Researchers analyzed findings from 199 published papers that looked at 22 commonly studied traits among couples, altogether, it looked at millions of couples worldwide over more than a century.

They found that partners on average share up to 89% of traits including values such as religiosity and political learnings, and also experiences such as smoking and sexual activity.

Couples even aligned on the amount of water they drink and how miserable they are.

Same sex couples were not included in this research, but the authors are now exploring that separately.
