Hey there! I am Hilah, and today on Hilah Cooking I am going to share a delicious, fudgy,
perfect brownie recipe with y’all. I had a request on Facebook for brownies and while
I do have the most fabulous brownie recipe in the world right up here in my little noggin,
I haven't actually shared it on the show. I have only put it in the Learn to Cookbook,
and in the newsletter like two years ago, so I figured you know what, it is time to
let these brownies be free, go out like little butterflies flapping around, sprinkling chocolate
bits, and pecans and stuff like that all over everybody’s heads and just generally spreading
joy thought the Internet world, so that is what I am going to do right now. Let’s get
started. Get your chocolatey mouths ready to eat chocolate!
[How To Make Brownies From Scratch]
>> Hilah: First things first, I have got a stick of butter, well, ok, a quarter pound,
and I am gonna cream that. I have just had this out for about an hour at room temperature
to get a little bit soft. Hang on to that, and we’ll use that to grease our pan, and
I could totally do this with a mixer, but I think y’all can see it better in a glass
bowl, so this is just gonna take a while.
>> Hilah: Ok, once your butter is kind of fluffed up like this. You are going to add
some sugar, and cream it around just to get it nice and creamy. That’s good, and I am
going to add an egg, and you see how simple this recipe is. This is, this is actually
the recipe that I, this is probably one of the first recipes I ever made. I have been
making these brownies since I was like, 7 or 8 years old. So, it would be a good thing
to get your kids involved in to. I could do it, they can certainly do it. Ok, thoroughly
incorporated, and add vanilla, and you know, you can eyeball it. I just did. Then we add
the dry ingredients and brownies, you are just going to add, at least in my brownies,
flour, and cocoa powder. The main difference between brownies and cakes is that brownies
don’t really have any leavening agents in them. There is no baking soda or baking powder,
and that is what gives them that really dense fudgy texture as opposed to a light and fluffy
cake texture. Son of a . . . ! Don’t cuss while you are making brownies, or the brownies
will turn out terrible. That’s an old wives tale that I just made up. Just make sure all
the flour, and everything, is mixed in really well, fab, ok, and it is very stiff and thick,
and that’s just perfect! I have got a pan here. I am using an 11 x 7 pan, an 8 x 8 pan
will work also, and this is why we saved our little butter wrapper. This is what my mom
always used to do. Just use that to grease your pan. Make sure you get the corners really
well. If you wanted to, you could even line it with foil and then grease the foil, and
then you could lift your whole pan of brownies out at once, but this works for my purposes
just fine. Ok, and I am going to put some nuts just on top, so I can just do it in half.
If you wanted to add some nuts in at the end before you put it in the pan, that’s totally
fine, but I am not a huge fan of nuts in my brownies although I like how they look. So,
I am just going to put some nuts on half, and I am using pecans, but walnuts are also
really nice because pecans are getting expensy ya’ll. I don’t know if you have notices,
but they are like 12 bucks a pound now. Good lord! Ok, cutesy tutesy. I am just going to
put these in the oven and bake them for, oh, about 25 minutes.
>> Hilah: Ok, brownies. These actually have been cooling off for a while, and not hot.
I just was faking that. So, I am going to go ahead and cut into them, a little crusty
edges. Oh, man the little inside is all gooey. Look at that, how moist and fudgy and delicious.
A little crunchy edges, I like little crunchy edges and I go for that. Well, let’s just
see what we’ve got here. Man, I just think these are the perfect brownies, and they are
just like so rich and fudgy, and the little crusty edges. They are wonderful. I hope you
try them. I hope you like them. If you want a printable recipe, you can get that at hilahcooking.com
along with other tips and stuff, and also if you make this, and you want to share a
picture of it, you can do that on Instagram and hashtag @hilahcooking and it will go up
on the website, so let me know how you like it. If you have any questions, leave them
in the comments below. Have a wonderful weekend! Have a wonderful week! Have a wonderful life,
