Why does this taste like dog food?

So, we're gonna be trying Japanese Kit Kats today.

Japanese Kit Kats? I thought there was only, like, one type of Kit Kat.

Oh, I'm so happy; I love Kit Kats, and also, I didn't eat before I came here.

Oh, my God, okay, I've seen these all over the internet; I'm actually so excited right now.

Oh, yes, I love Kit Kats, and I love the green tea flavor⏤matcha green tea flavored Kit Kats.

I know that there are, like, a lot of crazy flavors that we don't have in the US.

There's gonna be a green tea flavor, which I love.

That's me; I'm half Japanese, so that's perfect.

I feel like they're gonna put in some really random flavors, stuff that you don't think is very chocolatey,

because, you know, Japan does a lot of risky things sometimes.

There's some crazy flavors, though, so I'm scared of what you're gonna give me.

I'm real excited about this. Wow.

So, here is your first Japanese Kit Kat.

Okay.

This actually already looks like green tea ones that I've had, but I'm not sure.

I think it's the green tea; ooh, that's so satisfying.

It smells sweet; it smells good.

It tastes different; tastes like Kit Kat and it tastes, like, a little white chocolatey.

But there's another distinct flavor that I can't pinpoint.

I think I know what that is; I don't like it.

Right when you eat it, it, like, it hits you, like, it's there.

Yeah, wait, that's not green tea.

It's not bad, but it's reminding me a lot of sushi now.

When you're, like, just going at it, it tastes good for a second, then, like, it hits you, like, bam!

Strong in, like, the back of my throat, but I don't know what it is.

So, this is a wasabi flavored Kit Kat.

Wasabi flavored Kit Kat? I've actually never had wasabi before, so I couldn't pin this.

I don't think I would get it again, but it's not bad.

I'm guessing this is strawberry.

Trying to think of, like, things Japanese people would eat that are, like, kind of, like, pink or red.

Is there a cherry or strawberry Kit Kat?

I think it's some sort of fruit, I just can't pinpoint it.

That one's good. It's really sweet and it's not⏤it doesn't have that kick to it like the other one did.

Gosh, I'm scared; this is probably taro.

This is good; it's very sweet.

Is it lavender?

This is a sweet purple potato Kit Kat.

That did not taste like a potato at all.

That's interesting; how do you turn that into chocolate?

I actually had purple potatoes for the first time, like, last week.

It doesn't taste like it; it's way too sweet to be a purple potato.

Oh, it's another green one.

Darker green, okay, very nice texture; they're all the same.

I wanna say this is green tea, but like, 'cause you tricked me earlier.

This one's, like, a little less sweet than the last one.

It was starting to taste, like, cakey, and then it started to taste a little grassy for some reason.

This is green tea; I drink green tea a lot.

Yeah, this one's... this one's tea.

The taste is kind of weird to me, but I like it a lot.

It's trying to mix, like, sweet and bitter together, and it's not working out.

It's definitely very distinctive, and you know that it's that flavor when you bite into it.

I'm gonna go with matcha.

- So, yeah, this is a matcha green tea Kit Kat bar. - Yes.

I love it; they're my favorite. I like it better than the chocolate.

When you're initially chewing it, it kinda tastes⏤it kind of takes a second to get the flavor, but I do see green tea now.

And this is the Kit Kat I know and love⏤at least the outside of it.

These just look like the regular Kit Kats that you buy at the market.

Oh, my gosh, it smells a little weird.

This is gonna be a surprise.

Why doesn't that taste familiar? That's... that's like, chocolate and something else.

What is this? This one is definitely worse than wasabi.

Why does this taste like dog food?

It's got, like, a sort of, like, a bland after taste almost, like after you just had, like, some black coffee.

It's, like, a little bit sweet and it tastes a little bit like chocolate, but it kind of has the earthiness of, like, raw cocoa.

So, this is an azuki bean or sweet bean jelly Kit Kat.

Sweet bean jelly? Overall, it's really good; ten out of ten.

Okay, this is⏤definitely looks like white chocolate.

White chocolate Kit Kat, but there's always a twist.

Smells good; this is, like, some type of rice or something.

This looks like it has, like, some specks in it.

I guess I'll go for it; I'm scared.

It tasted kinda like soap, but I also kinda liked it.

Sort of tastes like how nail polish smells; I have no clue what this is.

That tastes like wine, like champagne.

Isn't⏤is that weird?

It almost tastes like how a... how a air freshener smells.

So, this is a rum raisin flavored Kit Kat.

Oh, my gosh, I⏤my mom and I, we eat the Häagen-Dazs rum raisin ice cream.

I think I like the ice cream better, but I probably would eat these from time to time.

Yeah, they were all good, especially the wasabi one, surprisingly.

It's really cool how they can make different flavors and have it taste exactly like that flavor they're... they're trying to make.

And how it all looks the same, but tastes different; so, I think it's really cool.
