  • So guys what do you think? What?

  • There a fireworks show tonight at 7:30 not too far from here. Do you want to go?

  • Yea.

  • And we have popcorn getting ready—do you know why, Anna?

  • We can go see fireworks if we hurry and eat.

  • Fireworks? Wait! I definitely want to go!

  • I'm going to eat...

  • Dear Jesus, thank you for this day, bless this food in Jesus' name amen!

  • [Life in Japan Theme Song]

  • Alright, we got our chairs in here.

  • You guys are ready! I got to go get the big Reutter kids, huh?

  • [Singing] People want to know about the big Reutter kids...

  • Along the way we made one very important pit stop for snacks and drinks at the 7-11,

  • and then we were on our way to find a good spot for fireworks viewing.

  • Confused you! Sorry! You did.

  • Alright guys, we ready?

  • Ok, we found a good spot.

  • Are you excited Sarah?

  • What? Ah, bonk!

  • Did we get a good spot?

  • I think so. I hope so. I hope so too.

  • How long has it been since we saw fireworks?

  • Uh, one or two or three years.

  • It's been really long. I think it's 10 years.

  • Momma chan, are you excited? Yes.

  • Becca Anna, what do you think?

  • You ready for this? Yea!

  • Wow guys, it's going to be awesome!

  • Everyone's got their snacks. Yum!

  • So a couple of years ago some friends of ours—maybe even my brother

  • They went to a hanabi show at this racetrack but it was storming.

  • He has pictures of fireworks with streaks of lightning in the rain.

  • This is what Becca's going to do...

  • Can you give me the drummer face?

  • Whoa, that's intense!

  • Ok! Oh!

  • Maybe that's the warning shot.

  • That's means it's going to go soon. Yeah, over there!

  • Oh my goodness, there it goes guys! It's like a thunderstorm.

  • Imagine if you lived in those apartments there.

  • [Kids screaming] Some kids are having a lot of fun down there!

  • Why do some of the fireworks shoot and then make the noise?

  • That's a great question... It takes time for the sound to travel to us.

  • That's right, Becca's right.

  • This is a big one. It wasn't.

  • It kind of teased it, didn't it?

  • This might be a big one. No.

  • Imagine if there was Life in Japan fireworks,

  • That would be cool, huh? And there was Life in Japan music

  • Oooo, those are cool!

  • Oh, I like those!

  • Whoa! Wow, look at that!

  • That would be cool to be in that stadium.

  • Whew, that would have been cool!

  • All done. Oh, not all done!

  • But the last part is the humungous fireworks, right?

  • It usually is. They call it the grand finale.

  • Hey! Are you eating the popcorn? Oh yea!

  • Here's some. Oh thanks! Munch munch.

  • Here Becca wants some popcorn.

  • Imagine if at that apartment you could go to the roof of it.

  • It would be freakingishly loud.

  • "Freakingishly loud!"

  • I like those.

  • Becca and Anna, are you glad that you came tonight? Yeah.

  • Ah, Sarah's starting to get a little tired.

  • Sarah Bear! It is past your bedtime, huh?

  • What have your parents let you do?

  • First fireworks since covid, we're excited! That's right.

  • I need popcorn please. Whoa!

  • Those are pretty!

  • The weeping willow ones are my favorite.

  • Like that—aw, I love that.

  • Give us some big ones! Boom!

  • Skadoosh

  • Baam!

  • Look at these Mommy!

  • Firework shows are beautiful!

  • I'm getting more tired.

  • Sarah's getting more tired?

  • [Singing] Lullaby, and good night... You don't need to sing that song, I don't need that song

  • [Singing] May your dreams be so firework-y Can I have the Mitsuya [soda]?

  • Hey, I was wishing for the Mitsuya.

  • Becster Booster, I know you want to drink some!

  • I don't need to put music to this, I'll just have you sing to it, Sarah.

  • We have some dueling banjos going on here.

  • Whoa, that's red! That is red!

  • Anna, are you recording the whole thing?

  • Oh gosh, that's worse than daddy!

  • No, Daddy!

  • Anna, are you really recording like the whole thing?

  • Yea, she hasn't moved her position.

  • Not at all?

  • Oh my goodness.

  • You don't know how cold I was, but she was shivering, so I put the jacket on her.

  • And look how I am right now! Are you cold?

  • Yes, I'm freezing! You guys are cold?!

  • What in the world?

  • It's not even cold! You're not cold?

  • Oh not at all, it feels so nice out.

  • That's the finale. No, maybe not.

  • Finales are golden, I think. The Golden Finale?

  • Finales should be golden? Trophies are golden.

  • And this must be golden. That's a very good idea Sarah.

  • That is. I like it.

  • Are both of you girls in the same seat?

  • We're so cold. It's what twins do.

  • So cold. They are twinning.

  • This is my hand, this is Anna's hand.

  • Is that so?

  • That was beautiful and you missed it.

  • Daddy, you're right in my way.

  • I'm right in your way?! Like you're right in my way.

  • Oh no! Excuse me Sarah chan!

  • Oh look at that yawn! I caught the yawn!

  • The sleepy Sarah-yawn.

  • Do you like fireworks Big J? Yep.

  • Oh it's super colorful.

  • That should warm you up. Whoa!

  • Sarah's over here warming up, trying to wake up.

  • Way to go Sarah-ski. I don't know what I'm doing.

  • I'm so tired. It's so beautiful but I want it to end.

  • Sarah doesn't want to fall asleep

  • Because imagine if there's a humungous cool part

  • And I'm going to miss the ending and I don't want to miss the ending!

  • Oh boy! Mommy this is your favorite.

  • Could this be it? Could this be it?!

  • This is it!

  • Is this the big "Sayonara?"

  • All done. I don't think so.

  • I think it is now. I don't think so.

  • Ah! I knew it!

  • Skadoosh!

  • Sarah, it's golden!

  • Might it be the golden finale Sarah that you've been wanting?

  • Yeah Oh this kind of looks finale-ishy.

  • This does look a little finale-ishy

  • Whoa! Whoa.

  • But we have thought that a couple of times already. Yea but there's stuff going on on the field.

  • That's it. I don't know, is that it?

  • Nope!

  • Why?!

  • How much do you want it to be done, Sarah?

  • A hundred percent and more than a hundred percent.

  • Oh, I see.

  • This has got to be it.

  • It's not because there's only one.

  • Ooo, yea.

  • That was a big one though.

  • My goodness. They're sending up some big ones.

  • They want to say "Yes! Watch this!"

  • Let me show you something cool. Those are so beautiful how they change colors.

  • They really are cool.

  • So we're five minutes short of an hour.

  • Five minutes short of an hour, what a show! My goodness!

  • It's like they're making up for the 2-3 years that they didn't have shows.

  • There was one time that Daddy was flying on July 3rd in America,

  • I looked out the window, because it was at night,

  • And there were fireworks shows happening all over the place.

  • It was so cool.

  • I could see like 10-15 fireworks shows at one time.

  • From my window in the airplane. Like this?

  • [Singing] A whole new world!

  • Yea, it was like an Aladdin moment. It was cool.

  • That's golden. That's great.

  • That's golden! It could be the big golden finale!

  • It's golden Sarah! Could it be?!

  • Uh oh. Whoa!

  • My goodness!

  • Oh my! Something really bright happening on the field.

  • They're searing people's eyes.

  • [Singing] Just when you think it might be done...

  • [Singing] They say "we have more for you!"
