Hello jennifer with Tarle speech with your two for Tuesday. These words are
-
pronounced exactly the same way they have a different spelling and a different meaning.
-
Sighs means to emit a long audible breath and
-
Size means a dimension or a magnitude, how big something is
-
So to say these words correctly we're going to start with that s sound:
-
tip of the tongue is either down or behind the top front teeth. It's not touching.
-
Air continues to move out of your mouth.
-
Next move to the I to do this, you're going to
-
open your mouth wide, tip of the tongue is going to be low,
-
back is pulled up. As you close your mouth your tongue will be high and flat in your mouth: I.
-
Then end with the z sound z. Your tongue is in about the same spot, as high and flat,
-
the tip of the tongue might be pointing down a bit. Again you are not touching
-
your teeth. Voice box is on and moving. And you are going to end with that zzzzz sound.
-
Put it all together S- I - Z
-
size size size sighs sighs sighs
-
And now for a sentence:
-
The sighs were audible due to the size of the audience.
-
