  • Yeah, Here we are in my Malibu home and we are in my entrance festival.

  • This house, my family and I have had for about 12 years and it was a gut renovation, very lovingly done on a trip to Miami, my husband and I found this incredible resin cornucopia and it had lived in someone's backyard for many years.

  • So it has like the perfect patina.

  • So that's the first thing that people see when they come over to the house.

  • Yeah, so now we're gonna go into the heart of the home.

  • And one of the things we actually did to the house is we opened up the second floor plate and our idea was to really like have this amazing energy That is created on this ground level.

  • And so it really opens up to the second floor where all the bedrooms are and this ficus tree was actually craned in.

  • It's about 18 ft tall and it gets lots of love every day.

  • One of the things when we were doing the renovation is I wanted to have a terrorist effect.

  • So you kind of lead into the view of the ocean.

  • So you see these vertical moments of this beautiful marble and the marble has this incredible movement that is very reminiscent of the ocean.

  • Yeah, so across from the ficus tree is the really incredible sculptural staircase that my studio and I designed as you can see there is the continuation of the bleached walnut flooring.

  • We really wanted it to feel like this grand gesture.

  • This is actually one of the sconces that we designed.

  • Um and it's a cast bronze, hand sculpted metal plate and it's a two inch slab of onyx and it just creates this incredible earthy light.

  • It's very sexy at night.

  • My personal interior design style is really like free spirit and it's really about the architecture and it's also what's outside the window.

  • So I wanted all of the textures and colors of the house to really be quiet and earthy.

  • If you look at a lot of the shapes, everything feels very soft and rounded corners um like a shell and the star is the beautiful blue ocean.

  • During the course of the architecture, I found this incredible tapestry at the paris flea market and the colors are so perfect all of the hand weaving.

  • This was done by an incredible textile artist Sheila Hicks and and with the house, because we have been here awhile, like I'm always kind of bringing in things um that I find in my travels and, and souvenirs and Mementos that my family and I find um together and kind of switching it up just to create some new energy and enjoy, you know, some of the beautiful artwork.

  • This is a credenza that feels super earthy.

  • This is about eight ft long and it's made of limestone.

  • And I actually also found this at the paris flea market.

  • I love creating these like still lifes and these like really beautiful moments um that when people are over.

  • You know, it's just this great kind of sculpture in itself and here we are in the kitchen.

  • This is a monolithic, amazing island.

  • Uh, there's a lot of programming in here, refrigerator drawers, wine coolers, all that, all of the cabinetry is actually skinned in an end cut dug for.

  • So you have all this incredible movement and it just looks like driftwood.

  • One of the other things that was really important is having my family around while I'm cooking and friends that come over.

  • So we created this great sitting area.

  • You have the view of the ocean and it's just like super comfortable, feels great for when designing a space.

  • I love texture, I love materiality.

  • This is a Calcutta stone that's been honed and leathered.

  • So it's very forgiving.

  • Another use of marble and all of it comes together like so beautifully and it's just all about texture and, and it feels like if I was walking on the beach and I discovered all of these shells and driftwood and all these things like that was my inspiration for designing this house.

  • So here we are in the dining room.

  • These are some artworks, this one has actually been at the house since we've had it.

  • It's really a special piece that I got in London and the table is a custom piece that I did and it's actually made of a stone veneer and um, it's just like super easy.

  • Um, nothing in the house is precious, like I want people to feel comfortable.

  • Um everything has like a patina and like a warm, we have dogs running around and kids running around and it just to make it so feel super easy.

  • And and homemade.

  • Mm So this area is the living room you can see, it's an open floor plan.

  • But there is clearly defined spaces.

  • You have the dining room which is behind me.

  • This is just a great place to sit and read a book, have friends over and talk And you're so close to the ocean.

  • It's about 20 ft in front of me.

  • And then in terms of talking about just my love of art, this is one of my favorite chairs.

  • It's by the Campana brothers.

  • They are Brazilian designers and artists.

  • And it's all these pieces of wood that are held together with brass nails.

  • This chaise lounges super iconic.

  • It's from the 19 eighties and there really is not a bad seat in the house.

  • What I did is I place these incredible large scale mirrors facing the ocean.

  • So you can see um the amazing view.

  • These are scarpa chairs, You can see everything is like really a low scale.

  • So the visibility to the ocean is amazing.

  • And then this pieces by a Woodworker who is from Los Angeles and this was actually done in the 1970s and it just adds this weight.

  • It's a bookend to the room on the other side.

  • You have that stately credenza and that piece of art.

  • And these light fixtures are a patina brass and they are actually starting to turn a little green.

  • They're so beautiful.

  • And these reminded me of like sea urchins and there are actually three different sizes that run along this room.

  • There's one over the dining table.

  • Now I'm gonna take you guys upstairs um to show you more, this railing reminds me of a rope of a sailboat.

  • So that was the inspiration behind this.

  • And at certain times of the day when the light comes in from the skylight, it just creates this most beautiful shadowing And this is a guest bedroom.

  • All the wall covering in the room was actually hand painted.

  • So there's a lot of movement and it just has a little more energy.

  • Uh this bed is an iconic bed from the 1970s and then looking at like um the light fixture bringing in a little rattan.

  • This light creates such magical light at night because it creates this beautiful shadowing.

  • These are great chairs that swivel.

  • So you can look over into view and there's a terrorist here, which is so nice that looks out onto the ocean and now I'm gonna take you into this bathroom, that is really so pretty.

  • This bathroom is an onyx stone, there is an amazing window in an incredible view.

  • Whoever stays here gets this incredible vista while taking a shower.

  • This is our master bedroom.

  • Again, the most incredible view.

  • You see there's like a gorgeous rock fragment that's right out front and it's like sculpture for the room and all the bedrooms as you can see are super low to the ground and it just feels like more relaxed and earthy.

  • Just some great artwork that we found over the years.

  • And the bench that sits in front of this 1970s bed is one of our designs and it's a solid oak hand carved and has a really beautiful plaster on it.

  • And as you can see, Willie is super happy right now.

  • So now we're gonna go into the master bathroom.

  • Really wanted the bathroom to be open to the bedroom and just to feel like it's one space similar to how it is downstairs.

  • This is a bar dig leo marble that actually kind of has like this great movement like the ocean, one of the architectural features of the house.

  • I wanted to add a lot of natural light on the second story.

  • So there are a lot of these really beautiful architectural round skylights and so in the master bedroom, I wanted to have an open space from the living room to the bathroom.

  • So these doors actually close.

  • Uh so you have great blackout at the end of the, at the end of the day, this is the closet and you can see everything is behind doors.

  • It's just very clean and open and light.

  • If I had to pick a favorite room in the house, it's so hard to do because they all have such great energy and they all have their own design spirit.

  • But I would say the kitchen because that's where everyone gathers and that's where friends are over and I'm cooking for my family and uh, it's the heart of the home and it has such an incredible spirit.

  • Yeah.

Yeah, Here we are in my Malibu home and we are in my entrance festival.
