We've been talking about the Luca Trey matchup, and so I'm gonna bring you into this conversation when it comes to these two going head to head.

Who are you rocking with?

You know, it's funny listening toe tray in the intro saying we're gonna be compared until we're retired, and I think that's absolutely right.

It's gonna be, like, 20 the year 2030 and we'll still be talking about.

This is a Luca Trey matchup, and it makes sense.

I mean, there forever intertwined through the trade that happened for each other in the 2018 draft.

But, I mean, if if if I have to, I'm going to say I'm going with Luca.

Um, you know, he just seems to have more upside as a transcendent player.

We're obviously talking about him as an M V p candidate.

Um, but look, neither team lost in this trade or came out with nothing.

You know, if you just look at this this season statistically, both Luca and Trey are actually production wise, very similar as faras points assists.

Actually, trade is having amore efficient shooting season this year.

Dan Luca and props to Trey.

Right now, his improvement at getting to the free throw line continues to put pressure on the defense.

He's third in the league for free throw attempts, and whether you like it or not, that is a skill set.

So again, while Luca, you know, tends to be the one that typed up as perhaps the next face of the league, you know, neither one of these guys are slouches without question.

couldn't agree with you more, but pivoting back to Luca just a little bit right?

There's something to be said about the unbridled joy that he plays the game with.

But when you go three and seven in your last 10, it's hard to find that happiness.

So what exactly has been plaguing the Mavs as of late?

You know, Rick Carlisle actually called this game critical for the Mavs tonight, and you know another way to flip.

This is the Mavs have an opportunity, actually, toe toe win three in a row.

Now, of course, that's after losing six in a row.

And during that spurt of losing, I mean, ah, lot of that had to do with, you know, a number of contributors being out due to covert protocol.

Also, key players coming back from injury.

Dwight Powell, Kristaps Porzingis.

But guys, if you look at the win streak that's happening here, that first win of this win streak against the Warriors was huge.

You know the Warriors threw everything at them.

Step had 57.

He almost stole that game from them.

But down the stretch, the Mavs were able to come up with really critical of responses and big place to close out the game and get that win.

The second one was against the Timberwolves and know that the Timberwolves are not a juggernaut, but the big takeaways.

Kristaps Porzingis.

31 minutes, Uh, confidence, aggressiveness on offense and even bigger for me.

It's the season high six blocks because the Mavs, this is the story line for them all season is they wanna be better on defense.

Tougher, more physical.

Well, I think that KP I think Porzingis is gonna be the key to unlocking their full potential there.

And their offense is nowhere near as prolific as it was last season, which may be hit the defense last year.

So defense got to step up, and I think Parsons is a huge part of that.

Meanwhile, the Hawks were like, We're on Lee.

One game below 500.

Yes, Okay, that was young.

Listen, is trying to get the Hawks back to the playoffs for the first time in a handful of seasons.

And as it currently sits Ross, they're in seventh place in the East.

We know he's going to get his and do his part, but this year he may have the role players and surrounding players around him to actually get the Hawks to that point, right?

Yeah, absolutely.

And a number of those role players to give them, you know, fair assessment have been injured and are still waiting to come back or just now, being eased into the rotation again from injury.

But you know, one player to really highlight here is Clint Capela, and I think, you know, we need to give him some flowers.

It was an infamous trade from the then at the time hard and led Rockets, where they double down on small ball and let go of Clint Capela.

And he didn't just, like, fade off into the abyss.

Instead, he crafted a really nice role for himself with the Hawks, and that is a defensive anchor as a double double guy.

As a rebounder, he's leading the league in rebounds, you know, as a shot blocker, a rim protector.

He's fourth in the league for blocks.

Uh, this is a guy that doesn't need you to feed him, giving the ball all the time to be productive.

He's gonna go get it.

You know he's leading the league in offensive rebounds.

He's going to clean up the glass.

And he's a huge reason that the Hawks have been able to improve and specifically improve on the defensive end, especially during a time where, like, the center position seems to be more and more.

You gotta shoot a three.

You gotta be skilled.

Clint actually is a lot more traditional, so I'm gonna give him a flower flower to you.

It's not true in Atlanta.

Okay, Rise.

What do you think is gonna happen tonight?

Well, I mean, I think the hawks, I mean, sorry.

I think the Mavs really wouldn't need this one.

Um, you know, the Mavs, they're looking for three in a row.

This'll is a team that also is just now starting to let fans back in the arena.

I don't know if you all saw that.

Um, it's only about 1500 fans right now.

It's vaccinated healthcare workers, they're letting back into their arena.

And the players talked about how that energy certainly has helped them right now is they're getting on this win streak.

Um, and again, it's Rick Carlisle said this game is critical.

Uh, this is a team that had big expectations and hype coming into the season, so they've got to start getting things moving in the right direction.
