  • I'm going to teach you how to pronounce words containing a 'Silent G' in English.

  • And these words are very common. I have two examples for you.

  • First, a very common word, 'sign'. Can you hear a G sound?

  • I can't. because the G is silent so you shouldn't pronounce

  • it, 'sign'. Another word, 'foreign'.

  • Do you know that dodgy is silent? All my students want to pronounce that G.

  • But you don't pronounce it, it's silent. So you say 'foreign'.

  • So as you can see, the silent G is often found in the combination '-gn', but not always.

  • In fact, I have a list of the most common words.
