  • Hello, everybody!

  • Today, we're going to learn

  • really sweet stuff!

  • "Yang-gaeng"

  • Sweet red bean jelly.

  • The main ingredient is red bean, adzuki beans.

  • Since I was young, this yanggaeng has been my favourite snack.

  • So delicious.

  • Many people love chocolate these days,

  • but if somebody asked me, "You want chocolate or yanggaeng?"

  • A piece of yanggaeng, of course I'll choose yanggaeng.

  • That much I love it.

  • So let's start!

  • One cup of red bean, put in the strainer.

  • If it has dead beans, you can pick them out.

  • So my beans are really clean.

  • Nice.

  • And then we are going to boil these.

  • Six cups of water.

  • Over medium high heat.

  • For the first 30 minutes.

  • We boiled for thirty minutes,

  • but still, these red beans are like small rocks!

  • Hard, very difficult to soften these.

  • So I'm going to turn off the heat.

  • And then, let it sit on the stove top like this

  • for thirty more minutes.

  • These beans have been in hot water for thirty minutes.

  • Turn on the heat again.

  • Over medium heat, for one hour.

  • One hour later, these beans are going to surrender.

  • "Maangchi! I surrender!"

  • Wow~!

  • Really really soft.

  • Easily, you can mash this.

  • To make delicious yanggaeng, the texture is very important.

  • It should be really really smooth,

  • so we need to remove all these skins.

  • Press them down.

  • Like this.

  • This looks really mashed now, so I'm going to add cold water.

  • We're going to strain this

  • add more water

  • like this

  • See? Wow, really soft.

  • Creamy, right?

  • I'm going to use this strainer.

  • Put it here.

  • And this is a cotton cloth.

  • And now, this time, all water is going down,

  • and then all we get is just beans.

  • So it took only a couple of minutes.

  • It looks like mud!

  • Squeeze it tightly,

  • so we are going to get only beans.

  • Delicious part.

  • We made this with one cup of adzuki beans.

  • Nice, looks a little like one cup. *chuckles*

  • And then, now it's an empty pot.

  • And let's put this here.

  • I use Turbinado cane sugar, but you can use brown or white sugar.

  • One cup.

  • And vanilla. Two teaspoons I'm going to use

  • to make it flavorful.

  • And half a teaspoon of salt.

  • And then let's cook this!

  • all this mixture really smells good now

  • This is well mixed, around 3 to 4 minutes

  • I keep stirring like this and then it's well melted. Sugar is well melted. this consistency

  • and then we need gelatine

  • put this in a small bowl and then im going to mix with cold water

  • quater cup

  • mixed

  • It's getting thick

  • add hot water

  • half a cup

  • add this to sweet red bean paste

  • slowly slowly

  • mix

  • beautiful

  • Gorgeous

  • we can make this 4

  • let it cool down and at room temperature like this

  • I like to make it more beautiful

  • and more tasty, so I'm adding these chestnuts

  • It's a can of chestnuts you can get it in Korea grocery store easily

  • and it makes it really look nice. Especially if you like to make this for a gift for someone. It'll be really awesome!

  • So pretty! im going to keep it in the refrigerator

  • 3 hours passed

  • YAY!

  • Beautiful shiny chestnuts. This is a cookie flower,

  • sold in a baking supply store.

  • You can serve like this

  • All you need is a spoon

  • Look at that. Thick.

  • sweet. soft. it's really a good gift idea

  • Today we made yangaeng

  • Sweet red bean jelly

  • Enjoy my recipe
