Okay, take for granted can be used in two ways.
-
If someone takes someone else for granted, it means that they benefit from them without acknowledgement or paying them back.
-
For example, Good advice is don't take your friends for granted.
-
If they help you, say thank you.
-
And if they need help, help them back.
-
You can also take something for granted, which means that you assume that it will happen on Expect it, but you don't know.
-
For example, the fans took it for granted that their team would win, but they were disappointed.
-
Next, let's talk about take your hat off to someone If you take your hat off to someone, it means that you express admiration for their achievements.
-
It's a kind of respectful salute, if you will.
-
For example, I take my hat off to Yuri Gagarin.
-
I mean, being the first man in space must have bean terrifying.
-

Now let's talk about taking it on the chin.

If you take it on the chin, it means that you accept a bad or difficult situation without complaint.
-
For example, the director took the bad film reviews on the chin and learn from them.
-
His next film was much better.

Now let's talk about taking something out on someone.
-
If you take something out on someone, it means that you relieve your frustration with a particular issue by being unpleasant to somebody who is completely unconnected.
-
So problem over here makes you feel angry.
-
You use that anger toe act badly to someone, but that person is not connected to the problem.
-
It often happens when someone has had a bad day at work.
-
For example, ah, husband might say to his wife, I know you've had a bad day at work, darling, but please don't take it out on me.
-
Finally, let's talk about taking someone's breath away.
-
If something or someone takes your breath away, it means that it surprises you because it's astonishing or extremely beautiful.
-
For example, don't go to Niagara Falls.
-
It's overrated, but the Grand Canyon will take your breath away.
