So this week series is all on zoo animals.

So let's start off the week by painting a draft.

Okay, So to start, I'm just gonna go through my materials.

I have my Windsor and Newton comment Watercolors.

I just cut one of the big papers into quarters.

Um, I have a size six and size to one hands of my water, my paper towel, a pencil and my reference photos.

So we're doing a giraffe, and I just found this photograph on Pinterest.

I'm gonna use another photo for reference colors because I don't really like how it's so muted.

I just wanted to get the shape of the draft with this, but I liked the positioning.

So, um, I already did just a couple of points.

Like if you can see my pencil lines just so I don't bore you with how many times I would race it.

Hopefully it will turn out because I like I've said in my other videos about animal tutorials.

I'm not the greatest When it comes to animals.

But I'm gonna try my best and try my best to explain it.

So and then if you need to trace a photograph, by all means, go right ahead.

Just try not to paint Earth trace anyone else's artwork.

Okay, So I'm just gonna start up here, Um, where the horn things are, and it's kind of like along u shape.

And they have these two thinking you somebody out there cold at the top.

But I'm just trying to do a really, really light sketch.

Then they have these really big, prominent, kind of like eyebrow bones comes down and they go out like so okay, and then their eyes we're gonna be sitting right underneath there some beautiful eyelashes.

I'm just gonna do the top of the eyes there, and then I'm just gonna kind of there's almost, like, a diamond shape here of where there's gonna be darker color, kind of going down to the nose and then the nose.

Yeah, these two big nostrils and you go around them and then it has kind of like this big lip thing.

I'm not the best at explaining illustrations, to be honest, cause I'm not the best at it.

We all have our strengths, and this is not one of mine.

I tried to draw this free hand a few weeks ago and it turned out to be a disaster, so I had to take a breath and try it again.

He's gonna do the under part of the eye, because then the cheek kind of comes down.

This is where I get kind of lost at the shape of the face.

I don't know who told this turned out great.

No, it's pretend that's the way it goes, Okay.

When I look at these kind of things and a reference photo, I kind of look at where the line starts and where it comes back.

So it comes back right on, right above the eye and under the brow bone.

So I'm gonna make a little thing there, and it goes up.

Okay, so right here goes up around it underneath the brow bone.

So I feel like I'm starting up too high, actually, and scoops down.

Okay, Just going to erase this little line here, okay?

And then I'm just gonna do the neck coming down where?

So I just look, it comes up underneath the bottom lip, and then kind of in this little did it here for the spaces.

Um, okay, so I'm gonna create the detail with my paint after, So I got the outline.

Not really feeling this ear, and now we're just gonna wing it, Okay?

So the first thing I'm gonna d'oh is I am going to do my first layer all over with a light, light, light, light brown.

So I already have some light around here very, very light wash.

Because essentially, it's gonna be the light parts underneath those spots too.

So I just want to make it very, very light.

But I'm just gonna cover the whole draft of the base.

If you wanna erase your pencil marks more, go ahead.

Or someone made at this point of using, um, water color pencils, so it just kind of soaks it up.

Okay, so we got our first layer here, and now we're just gonna take some darker color, make sure it's still wet, so you can continue to do your one and wet, and you're gonna take some darker color.

So I'm just gonna take my burnt number here.

I might actually mix a bit of orange cadmium orange in there, and I'm just gonna start dropping it places.

So there's darkness and that kind of diamond shape there.

And then there's darkness up here, Um, going thio on this whole like nose part is all brown.

Now, I'm gonna go over this again to do the details, So it's not gonna look just like this.

I don't I think that it will, cause it won't.
