  • The Council for Exceptional Children?s Yes I Can Awards recognize children with disabilities who excel.

  • This unique program honors children with disabilities who have made

  • significant achievements in one of nine categories:

  • Academics, Arts, Athletics, Community Service, Employment, Extracurricular Activities

  • Independent Living Skills, Self Advocacy and Technology

  • At the Yes I Can Awards Ceremony, children with disabilities

  • some for the first time in their lives

  • are recognized for their accomplishments.

  • Each winner has a special moment in the spotlight as he or she is presented with a statue

  • and the audience learns of the student's remarkable accomplishments.

  • This amazing awards ceremony takes place at one of the largest professional

  • development events for special educators:

  • the Council for Exceptional Children's Annual Convention & Expo.

  • The winners and their families are also treated to

  • a special field trip in the host city.

  • Plus, everyone is a winner at CEC's Yes I Can Awards each child who

  • is nominated receives a certificate of accomplishment.

  • When I received this award, I really felt confident of the things

  • I've been doing to help in the community with all these kids.

  • I feel great, I feel like I deserve it and it's an accomplishment

  • that you've really got to work for.

  • Through the Yes I Can Awards, you can inspire children with disabilities

  • to be the best they can be, to reach their full potential

  • and let others know how much these children can accomplish.

  • I'd like to thank Yes I Can for doing everything they've done, it's just great
