  • your new workplace environment not only so that you can just fit in and adapt

  • but that you can really truly be your best self every day so I'm gonna walk

  • you through my five tips on how to adapt to a new workplace environment so that

  • you can set yourself up for success in your new job in company tip number one

  • observe the lay of the land notice how things are done if you find that the way

  • that people work in your company or department is very individualistic

  • meaning people are very independent with their work then take notice of that and

  • keep that in mind this likely means that in this company they tend to value

  • making independent decisions and working independently and being able to come up

  • with solutions and recommendations on your own with limited guidance and

  • supervision on the other hand if you find that there's a lot of collaboration

  • going on people sharing ideas with one another then perhaps this company or

  • team tends to value communication and teamwork being able to take notice of

  • your environment and keeping this in mind will help you in your future

  • interactions with your co-workers and colleagues on the tasks assignments and

  • projects that you end up working on tip number two be friendly and introduce

  • yourself to people as you meet them now you don't have to necessarily go around

  • handing cookies to every new co-worker that you meet and introduce yourself but

  • you should be willing to smile and introduce yourself and talk to anyone

  • who comes across your path and makes sure that you get to know them as your

  • potential new co-worker so don't be afraid to make small talk with your new

  • co-workers ask them how long they've been here are they enjoying it what do

  • they do you want to ask them small questions about themselves in a friendly

  • yet professional way tip number three learn the processes systems and business

  • well the earlier and more that you're able to understand how the business

  • works how the processes are run how the systems function the better that you're

  • going to be able to perform your job with fewer hiccups and setbacks so take

  • notes ask critical questions when you're receiving training play around with the

  • software in system so that you understand them do not be afraid to ask

  • questions these will all help to accelerate your

  • learning of the basics for your job tip number four ask smart questions when you

  • first join a company right then and there is the time that you need to ask

  • the questions that need to be asked people aren't going to be upset with you

  • if you ask them basic questions and critical questions now but they may be

  • upset with you if you ask basic questions six months or a year from now

  • you need to think through the questions that you want to ask so that you can

  • help to understand the business and the processes better and you need to be

  • willing to actually open your mouth and ask them and don't forget what the

  • answers are you don't want to repeat the same questions again and again because

  • you didn't take proper notes or you didn't actually understand it when it

  • was explained to you so to leave a positive impression is to ask smart

  • questions ask critical questions ask why questions and then understand it and if

  • you don't understand follow-up right then and there don't

  • wait a week or two to ask them again and finally tip number five identify

  • low-hanging fruit opportunities for improvement once you're familiar with

  • your team your department business processes and functions it's time now to

  • start to observe and identify possible areas for improvement these are things

  • that you know can easily be improved on and will increase the level of

  • efficiency for your team and company for example let's say that you identify

  • manual processes in your team or departments that are slowing things down

  • and that you know if you just implemented an automated Excel

  • spreadsheet that that would speed up the processes and would require less manual

  • labor once you identify these potential areas

  • for improvement don't be afraid to bring them to the attention of your manager

  • and make the recommendation to have them changed and offer for you to be the lead

  • person to make that change and then the key is to do it

  • implement that change implement that improvement and don't forget to record

  • the results of that change or improvement that you implemented so that

  • at the end of the year when there's a performance review you'll be able to

  • bring it up and that's going to help you with your bonus and your salary and your

  • future promotion potential so there you have it those are my five tips on how to

  • adapt to a new workplace environment so that you can set yourself up for success
