  • Welcome to my kitchen the K kitchen.

  • And today I will be making Banana Appam.

  • You may call it a Banana Appam or a Banana Pancake

  • they are more or less the same.

  • So let's begin.

  • I am taking jaggery

  • which I have grated.

  • If you have powdered jaggery, that could also be used.

  • In half a cup of jaggery add 1.5 cups of water.

  • We have to melt this.

  • Till the jaggery is melting,

  • we'll peel the Bananas and mash them.

  • For this recipe ripe or overripe Bananas are perfect

  • So there is a Banana here,

  • Using a fork,

  • you just mash it.

  • Make it into a pulp.

  • Another one

  • Make a nice mash

  • of these Bananas.

  • I have used about two large Bananas.

  • The jaggery has dissolved. We will turn it off.

  • We'll keep it for cooling.

  • Let's pour this out.

  • There.

  • In this Banana, we'll add

  • Rice Flour.

  • There it goes.

  • In this goes grated Coconut.

  • Cardamom powder.

  • And white Sesame seed means "Til" in Hindi.

  • In this, we may

  • add a little Baking soda or Baking powder.

  • So that it's not very heavy

  • but a little fluffy and light.

  • We'll mix this nicely.

  • Look at that.

  • I can already smell the flavour of Banana and

  • Cardamom together.

  • This is cold enough

  • now we'll add it to the Bananas

  • and make a thick batter from it.

  • Gradually.

  • All the liquid

  • with the dissolved jaggery is mixed in this.

  • There.

  • The batter is ready.

  • Just give it a nice stir.

  • So that everything gets mixed well.

  • Banana Appam is actually a dish that you can have

  • any time of the day.

  • And as it has Coconuts, Bananas

  • Cardamom and jaggery

  • These are all very good for your health.

  • Alright.

  • Take a pan.

  • Heat it up. Alright.

  • Put very little Ghee in the pan. Now

  • take this thick batter

  • put it in the center

  • Grease a spoon and then just

  • evenly spread the batter.

  • On a slow heat.

  • Just cook the first side.

  • Because it has jaggery it will soon be

  • Caramelized. So be very very careful.

  • Cook it on a slow flame only.

  • If you want, you can put this in a Kunni Paniyaram Chutney

  • and make small Kunni Paniyaram

  • shaped also.

  • A little bit of Ghee will be drizzled on the top.

  • And now we will turn it.

  • There it goes.

  • Looks very nice.

  • Very soft, very fluffy.

  • So they are ready.

  • Now we'll plate them.

  • Alright, to plate it,

  • all we need to do is

  • just spat them up.

  • And the last one.

  • Best one so far

  • on the top.

  • Now.

  • The best way to serve these Banana Appams is

  • on their own but you can always serve it with some nuts

  • and some extra Honey or Maple on the side.

  • There.

  • Done.

  • Couple of candied fruits.

  • On the top.

  • Perfectly okay.

  • And some Dried fruits.

  • A little playful.

  • And just pour some

  • Honey or Maple syrup.

  • On top.

  • There.

  • A little around

  • And the Banana Appam pancakes are done.
