  • Hey I'm Danielle from Canada and I'm 20 years old. I've been travelling for about two years

  • now, and I've been to Brazil, Mexico, a couple countries in Europe and I'm currently living

  • in Australia. Throughout my travels I've learnt many different ways of how to make friends,

  • and today I'd like to share with you guys a couple of my top tips. Number one; so, don't

  • be shy! When you walk into a hostel, you have to talk to people -make conversation. Ask

  • them where they're from, what they're doing tonight, how long have they been in the specific

  • place that you're staying. The second tip that I can give to you guys is to hang out

  • in the hostel common areas and try to participate into all the activities the hostel has to

  • offer. Most hostels will offer things like pub crawls, tours, and um dinners, which is

  • always good because you can often meet people that are doing the same thing that you are.

  • And along with that, if you follow my first tip, which is not to be shy, I assure you

  • that you WILL make friends. My third tip I can give for you guys is to be ready with

  • conversation starters. Some of the few of my favourite things to start conversations

  • with would be asking someone what they're cooking tonight, or maybe even asking them

  • what their favourite artists are when they're listening to their ipod. And it's that easy!

  • The fourth advice I can give for you guys is to book a day trip or a tour. Before doing

  • that, make sure you ask the person you're booking it with -either at your hostel or

  • the tour company what would be best to do for you. Because during that time you're going

  • to be with the group for a certain amount of time and you want to make sure that you're

  • with the right people. And once you do that, it will be very easy to make friends. My fifth

  • tip, which is my most important to you guys is to always be positive. If you come in with

  • a positive attitude and you're happy, you keep a smile on your face and you're laughing,

  • your positive energy will attract all the positive people around you as well. That's

  • all for today, those are the top tips that I've learnt while travelling, just remember

  • -like I said earlier if you come in with a positive attitude you will always, always

  • be able to meet new people, I promise you this. Thank you guys.
