  • It is great to be in front of all of you live and in person.

  • Well, this isn't live.

  • This show is not... but you know what I mean.

  • The nice thing about this show not being live is that if we need to, we can edit stuff out.

  • Like, for instance, if an interview goes too long, or something breaks, or my top falls off.

  • It's happened before.

  • We can edit that out.

  • But there's one place that lots goes wrong.

  • And that is live TV and especially the news.

  • This is a live broadcast at the San Diego Yacht and Boat Show, where things got off to a not-so-great start.

  • The San Diego Yacht and Boat Show.

  • Good morning, everybody.

  • I'm hanging out with my friend, John.

  • Fox 5 morning news starts.

  • Look over there.

  • And it starts right now!

  • They panned out, expecting it to go way up.

  • The future is here, and it's grim.

  • Jetpacks aren't the only thing reporters try live on TV.

  • This is supposed to be how you learn how to cross-country ski.

  • Hi, you guys.

  • So I'm here with Richard and Katie from the Utah Nordic Alliance of Utah.

  • And you guys are teaching me how to cross-country ski.

  • So give us some bas...

  • I know that fall.

  • That's either altitude or too much tequila.

  • I've seen that before.

  • Sometimes reporters are around animals, and they definitely don't care that it's live TV.

  • The judging is complete so come on out and meet the winners.

  • The goats will be here through Saturday.

  • And they're very friendly.

  • From the Manatee County Fair, Linda Carson, ABC 7.

  • Would you not eat my pants?

  • Ah!

  • The goat got her go.

  • This next one comes from a reporter who really just wanted to be left alone.

  • Two, three.

  • Ah!

  • Okay.

  • Okay, ooo.

  • Here, okay, one.

  • Sporting activity start... I gotta stop flicking them.

  • Okay, no, not doing this.

  • Y'all acted like it was on you.

  • All right, so this reporter put themselves in harm's way for the good of the story sometimes.

  • All right, so I've got my trusty stopwatch.

  • And here they come down the hill.

  • It looks like Ruben is in the lead.

  • And here comes El.

  • That was a bad idea.

  • He did a whole front flip.

  • That's pretty impressive.

  • Finally, I'm not sure where or when this took place, but I know that it was not supposed to happen.

  • ... instead of a place and a point for them to raise that, was it a done deal by the time Trevor Manuel...

  • It's actually an opportunity for members of Parliament to actually digest and go through the documentation that is going to be presented to the public.

  • And the opportunity for proper engagement is actually after the taping of the...

  • He heard that first crack.

  • And he just looked over, like, that's going to happen, isn't it?

  • Oh, god.

  • If you didn't notice, the title of that person is chairperson.

  • He's more of a floor person now.

  • Thank you.

  • So the takeaway is don't go on live TV if there are jetpacks, goats, bugs, or chairs nearby, because all of them will betray you.

It is great to be in front of all of you live and in person.
