  • Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is Noun Phrase 65. The noun phrase today is

  • a done deal. Sometimes we use a French term to express this too. Somebody might

  • say a \"fait accomli \" basically meaning that something also is a done deal. From

  • French too. All right. So what does this mean ? Let's take a look at it. A done deal is

  • something that has already have been decided and cannot be changed. That's the

  • point that you're saying when it's a done deal. Usually somebody wants to

  • change something or adjust something and you say. It's, it's a done deal we can't

  • reverse it. It can't be changed. It's over. No point in still trying to compromise

  • about it or you know to bargain about it. It's already a done deal . Okay. So let's

  • take a look at a few examples here. Example number one. Even though, they have

  • received many complaints, they are not going to reverse their decision. They are

  • tied up in a contract and cannot reverse it. It's already a done deal. Okay. It's a

  • perfect way that we might use it. Or number two. Insiders say it's already a

  • done deal. The arguing in the media is just theater. It is only for show, so the

  • politicians can pretend they are fighting for their voter base. Yeah. So we

  • see this a lot of times where we see the politicians on both side are (blah, blah , blah )

  • but maybe behind the scenes a deal has already been worked out. It's already

  • over. Even though they're pretending like they're still arguing like something can

  • still be changed. In this case, we sometimes might hear this That an insider says

  • it's already a done deal. It's, it's already over. They've already

  • made a decision about it. Okay. And number three here. We have to make sure this is

  • a done deal before we leave. Yeah. This might be you

  • know, maybe there was a number of executives trying to work out this deal.

  • We cannot afford to let this agreement fall apart. So maybe some of the senior

  • ones they want to make sure this really goes through. Make sure it's completely

  • 100% finished. You know, it's a done deal. So there's no chance that it may fall

  • apart or be reversed in any way. Okay. Anyway, I hope you got it. I hope it's

  • clear. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
