  • Today we're taking a day trip to Lantau Island to see the giant Buddha, and so much more.

  • Okay, so it's time to hop on the cable car and head up to Ngong Ping.

  • The cable car moves at about 5 meters per second.

  • And still, it takes about 20 minutes to get from the bottom to the top.

  • And the entire way you have these breathtaking views of the mountains and the water all around you.

  • But for something a little extra, you can hop in the crystal cabin, which has a glass floor.

  • Wow.

  • Here on Lantau Island, you'll find the Tian Tan Buddha, otherwise known as the big, or giant Buddha.

  • It's a quick 260 stairs.

  • That was quite the climb, but it's worth it.

  • The view here is so beautiful.

  • Just 15 minutes away from the big Buddha is Tai-O, a traditional fishing village here on Lantau Island.

  • I'm really intrigued by all these houses because they're up on stilts and every house is different.

  • There's little restaurants and whatnot.

  • It's just a very unique community.

  • With all there is to do on Lanau Island, I'm really glad I took a few moments just to stop and enjoy this tea ceremony because it's unlike any other tea ceremony I've experienced.

  • For an extra perk, grab some snacks and enjoy them as you stroll through and take in the ambience of this fishing village.

  • To die for.

  • From the Ngong Ping cable car to the Tai-O Fishing Village, and Tian Tan Buddha, Lantau Island really is a special part of Hong Kong.
