  • This is the Meatpacking District in New York City where Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes,

  • Samantha Jones and Charlotte York spent most of their time in the popular

  • HBO TV series Sex and the City. Located on the far west side of Manhattan, bordered

  • by Chelsea to the north and the West Village to the south, the Meatpacking

  • District is a trendy commercial neighborhood with a wide range of

  • restaurants, nightlife venues, and high-end designer clothing stores.

  • The area is home to the Whitney Museum of American Art and a stretch of the High Line,

  • an elevated park built atop old railroad tracks. The hip area is a

  • perfect fit for many of the girls' nights out during Sex and the City which ran for

  • six seasons from 1998 to 2004. During the series,

  • Samantha moves to the Meatpacking District after deciding to leave her

  • Upper East Side building. In this video, we are going to take you around five

  • other New York City locations that were made famous by Sex and the City.

  • We are now at the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park located on the east side between

  • 74th and 75th streets. The boathouse was first a wooden two-story Victorian

  • structure that lasted from 1873 to 1954. The red brick and limestone boathouse

  • visitors know of today was opened in 1954 by Carl M. Loeb. With the option of

  • indoor or lakeside eating, the Loeb boathouse offers beautiful views of the

  • lake as well as the park. In The Sex and the City season 3 finale Carrie and Mr. Big

  • meet at the Boathouse restaurant for lunch.

  • Carrie decides to meet with Big after much deliberation and a big fight with

  • Miranda which ends with Carrie promising not to kiss Big. When Big goes in for a

  • kiss, Carrie ducks to try to avoid his kiss

  • and they both fall in the water.

  • We are now at the Plaza Hotel located on Fifth Avenue and 59th Street. This iconic

  • five-star New York City hotel opened in 1907 and is known for its luxury and

  • views of Central Park. The hotel has been the temporary home to notable guests

  • including presidents, royalty and countless celebrities over the years. At

  • the end of Sex and the City season two, Carrie runs into Big in front of the

  • Plaza Hotel after celebrating his engagement to Natasha. Carrie questions

  • why Big didn't choose her and ends up saying 'Your girl is lovely, Hubble,'

  • reciting the famous line from the 1973 movie The Way We Were

  • starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford.

  • We are now at Columbus Circle located at 59th

  • Street and 8th Avenue, the main entrance to Central Park where Broadway, 8th

  • Avenue, Central Park South and Central Park West all intersect.

  • In the middle of the busy intersection sits a towering monument to Christopher Columbus mounted

  • on a base surrounded by fountains. The fountains were dedicated on Columbus Day

  • October 12th, 1965. At the fountains is where Carrie and Aidan break up for the

  • second and final time after two seasons of back and forth. It was a sad day for

  • Sex and the City fans who were on Team Aidan.

  • We are now at 66 Perry Street in the West Village located in lower Manhattan. The West Village is a

  • neighborhood known for its designer boutiques and trendy restaurants.

  • Mostly a residential neighborhood with townhouses in public squares, some of its

  • streets are still cobblestoned. Visitors find their way to notable venues in the

  • area, including the historic Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 riots that launched

  • the gay rights movement. In the Sex and the City series, every exterior scene

  • filmed at Carrie's stoop was in front of 66 Perry Street.

  • These steps are where Carrie sat, kissed, and cried on.

  • We are now at the Jefferson Market Garden located in Greenwich Village at

  • Greenwich Avenue between Sixth Avenue and West 10th Street. The garden sits

  • adjacent to the Jefferson Market library, a National Historic Landmark.

  • Miranda stumbles upon this elegant community garden while planning her

  • wedding to Steve. Not traditionally romantic, Miranda and Steve get married here.

  • There are many other locations where fans can relive the Sex and the

  • City series as well as the movies. These areas of New York City will stay iconic

  • thanks to Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha.
