  • - Jeremy and I are going to go adventuring.

  • - [Jeremy] And he tripped over these rocks,

  • and fell on his back.

  • - You okay?

  • - [Isaac] Yeah.

  • - But unfortunately we've already had

  • a few mishaps with nature.

  • - So then Elise got bit by a bug or stung by a wasp

  • or something several times.

  • - Suddenly I felt a lot of stuff on my back.

  • - [Kendra] Good morning.

  • Hi, Janae.

  • Are you ready to go to the cabin?

  • Do you wanna go see Grandma and Papa's cabin?

  • Well, we are packing up for my sister's awesome house

  • and headed up for our family reunion

  • with my whole family at the cabin.

  • It's a little bit of a drive, but it's worth it

  • because it's gorgeous up in the mountains.

  • - And now.

  • - [Kendra] Professional mover of things and children.

  • All right, Caleb, you ready to go to the cabin?

  • - Yeah.

  • - Snickers, you wanna come to?

  • So we're making one stop on the way outta town.

  • Any guesses where we're headed?

  • We're going to Zupa's, again, for lunch today.

  • When you're only in the same town

  • as your favorite restaurant, like once or twice a year,

  • you gotta eat there as many times as you can

  • while you're in town.

  • And now we're off to the cabin.

  • Hey, Laura, what's the matter?

  • - We left the two big kids.

  • - [Kendra] We left the two big kids?

  • - Uh-huh.

  • - [Kendra] Oh no, where are they?

  • - They're at Tiffany's house.

  • - [Kendra] Did we forget?

  • - Yeah, go find them.

  • - [Kendra] We gotta go find them?

  • - Yeah, did we lost them?

  • - [Kendra] We didn't lose them, and guess what?

  • Mommy wouldn't forget about them.

  • They're very important to me.

  • Guess where they are.

  • They drove to the cabin with Grandma and Papa.

  • So they're already up there.

  • They're waiting for us.

  • Should we go get them?

  • Okay, I'm glad you were worried

  • about your big brother and sister.

  • You're nice.

  • Jeremy ordered soup.

  • - Kendra was like, how are you gonna eat that while driving?

  • This is how.

  • - [Kendra] He's drinking his soup.

  • I don't know if I could do that.

  • It doesn't taste the same, does it?

  • - You just get more of it all at once.

  • (upbeat music)

  • - So every time we drive this direction,

  • I want to video the lake, because it's so beautiful.

  • And every time--

  • - [Jeremy] Oh there it is, there it is.

  • - It is not there.

  • You are joking me.

  • Anyway, so every corner we keep going around,

  • I'm like ready with the camera.

  • And Jeremy keeps making fun of me because

  • we're not there yet, but I'm scared I'm gonna miss it again.

  • Look, here it is, here it is, it's coming.

  • Look, the rocks are pretty.

  • There it is (laughs).

  • - [Jeremy] Nailed it.

  • There's that lake.

  • - [Kendra] That's what I've been looking to film

  • every time we're on this drive (laughs).

  • Oh, say goodbye to the lake, guys.

  • Now I'm gonna put the camera away.

  • We'll see you at the cabin.

  • - [Jeremy] I just wish this road had some orange cones.

  • (Kendra laughing)

  • On the outside, so it's like, hey, stay in the--

  • - Where's the road, we're so confused.

  • So Isaac and Elise aren't in the car.

  • Laura is napping, Caleb is watching a show

  • on the iPad, and Janae's asleep.

  • It's like a quiet drive, like it's pretty much

  • like Jeremy and I are alone in this car.

  • Which is so romantic.

  • - What are we gonna do?

  • - [Kendra] We're gonna talk about life.

  • - Yes.

  • - Well because we left a little later than we planned,

  • we are running into some serious traffic, so

  • Jeremy and I are going to go adventuring.

  • We're trying a different way.

  • - [Jeremy] We're gonna beat the traffic.

  • - Yeah, I don't know but we're gonna keep moving,

  • which is what's most important for Janae.

  • (upbeat music)

  • So little fact about me.

  • I seriously love finding new ways

  • to get to the same places that I always go.

  • I remember distinctly in college that there was

  • a Wal-Mart that I'd have to go shopping to occasionally,

  • and I loved to see how many different ways

  • I could find, like I didn't just wanna take the main road,

  • like, I'd like to cut through different neighborhoods

  • and try different side streets,

  • and it's just really fun for me.

  • I love traveling and just exploring places

  • I've never been before, even if it's as simple

  • as a road in my hometown, so,

  • anyway, little fact about Kendra.

  • Oh, and I'm really grateful that I'm married to a guy

  • that's willing to do it with me.

  • Because that's awesome.

  • - Someday, we're gonna apply for the Amazing Race.

  • - [Kendra] Yes.

  • - And we're gonna win.

  • - Yes.

  • - [Jeremy] A million dollars.

  • - They should make a new Amazing Race game

  • that's like, Amazing Race, family version,

  • you have to do it with your kids.

  • Because that would be so much harder, and we'd win.

  • (laughing)

  • - Yeah.

  • - [Kendra] We're reaching pine trees.

  • That means we're getting closer.

  • (upbeat music)

  • Laura gave Hunter directions to the cabin,

  • and she said, you drive and then it's really bumpy.

  • And then you're there.

  • - We're here.

  • - Well we made it to the cabin.

  • It has been a joyful reunion, and we are settling in

  • for our first meal while we wait for everybody to arrive

  • and get this party going.

  • It's Janae's first time at the cabin.

  • Hi.

  • We call this dish Aunt Karen's salad,

  • and it is delicious.

  • - [Jeremy] But it was invented by Aunt Susan.

  • - I don't know if Aunt Karen actually knows

  • that we have Aunt Karen's salad.

  • - That we named it after her.

  • We had this salad at Aunt Karen's house one time, and, oop!

  • Well it is absolutely gorgeous up here,

  • but unfortunately we've already had

  • a few mishaps with nature.

  • Elise was stung by a bee seven times.

  • It was right when she got here, and I wasn't even here yet,

  • but apparently a bee got stuck in her shirt

  • and stung her over and over.

  • I just, oh my heart just hurts thinking about that.

  • - So I was just swinging and talking to Isaac,

  • and then suddenly I felt a lot of stuff on my back.

  • And I was crying, and then Isaac ran up to Grandma,

  • and then I ran up and then.

  • - But my mom knew just what to do and put some stuff

  • on it right away, and she's feeling a lot better.

  • But then, this evening, Isaac was playing

  • with some of our little cousins on the deck,

  • and he was so cute with them.

  • He backed up and accidentally fell off a rock ledge

  • and landed on a rock.

  • This is like a four-foot drop.

  • My jaw just dropped.

  • Anyway, I'm still just scared even talking about it.

  • I'm so glad that he's okay.

  • So he has some scrapes on his arm and a gash on his back

  • that's kinda swelling up, and he's being so tough about it,

  • but I know he's hurting and I just wanna cry

  • even just thinking about it.

  • - It's just been a little bit of a rough start to the cabin.

  • - You okay?

  • - [Isaac] Yeah.

  • - [Jeremy] Look at his back.

  • Yep, he fell right on his back.

  • - You are so tough.

  • I know, I know, I don't wanna see it again.

  • I'm so glad you're okay.

  • That's scary.

  • - Honestly, from looking at his wounds,

  • I'm really grateful that he's not hurt worse, because

  • falling on a rock this high up is

  • that's pretty dangerous, you can hurt yourself pretty bad.

  • - The Blast Song.

  • - [Jeremy] We're singing the Blast Song.

  • We will come along with you

  • To spend time together

  • We love seeing each other

  • And having a blast

  • Together at last

  • They're running and jumping

  • And having a blast

  • What are we doing right now?

  • - Ice cream.

  • - [Jeremy] Ice cream, what's it called Elise.

  • - Chris' four wishes.

  • Wishes for Chris'.

  • - You did it backwards.

  • - Ooh.

  • For family, we'll be

  • ♫ A good example to each family member

  • And when I am a mom or dad

  • So glad, I'll have my family remember

  • God gave us family

  • (laughing)

  • - [Kendra] She does not know what to think.

  • - [Elise] Good night.

  • - [Jeremy] She has a super loose tooth,

  • and she wants me to pull it out.

  • - Get it out, oh.

  • - [Kendra] There's the heavy artillery.

  • (screaming)

  • So today is Janae's first time in a pool.

  • (laughing)

- Jeremy and I are going to go adventuring.
