See, that's cool, but the others are just... It doesn't take much skill to dab. - (children) Question time! - (FBE) All right, so, these were all videos from compilations called "Kids Are Lit." - Kids are lit! Yeah, they are. - Oh, yeah, I've heard of that. - Kids are lit? Lit? Why can't I be lit? - (FBE) Is this something you've heard of before? - Never, actually. I'm really outdated in social media. - I haven't heard of this before, but now that I have heard of it, I wish I hadn't. - Yes, I have. - I saw it on the internet. - It's all over Instagram, but my friends just do it on Snapchat. - No, but yesterday I was in the car with my mom. She was like, "What's 'lit' mean?" - (FBE) What does the word "lit" even mean? - I don't know, but I'm guessing it's something good, I guess. - I don't know what lit means, actually, but I think it means cool. - Cool, hip. - Like legit. Like you're awesome. - You might say a party is lit, meaning it's super fun, super energetic, like great vibes. I use this word actually a lot. (laughing) - I knew, back in the day, it meant if you were stoned or drunk. And these kids are just using these words like it's nothing and they're just like, "That's so lit!" Are you-- are you stoned? - (FBE) So these compilations get made, seemingly because people think some kids are just awesome at dancing, sometimes better than adults. Why do you think that impresses people so much when a kid can do something like an adult? - Because we're just kids. Nobody has any respect for us. - Because they're young. They don't have much experience. - Because they have, like, jobs and they do everything professional, but when you see a kid doing it, you're like, "Oh my god, it's a new prodigy." - I know where they're coming from. They think it's cool that kids can do this, but it's not cool if every single kid can dab. - It doesn't impress me because we all know kids can do the same as adults, and adults can do the same as kids. Nothing in the world's impossible to do. - (FBE) Aww! - (kid) Cute! - (FBE) There are some people who think that some of the songs the kids dance to and some of the dances that they're doing are not appropriate for kids of that age. What do you think? -Yeah, they're right. When you do this stuff, they're like... they're working their body and stuff. Why are kids doing this exactly? It's inappropriate. - It doesn't really matter to me so much, but I don't want to see it. -Their parents should at least monitor what kids are doing because some of them are getting cyberbullied and some of them are watching things way to inappropriate for their age group. - (FBE) What do you think when your parents or older people tell you that what you're listening to, or even what you're doing, is inappropriate. - I'll be ashamed. Because I don't want to listen to bad things. - You just have to listen to them because they are your elders and you should respect them. - Parents know best, so kids, listen to your parents. - I don't really care. It's like, I still do well in school. I'm not trying to do anything bad. I'm just listening to songs with catchy beats. - I listen to a lot of music with profanity. My parents and some old people don't tell me, "Oh, stop listening to that." They tell me it has a bad meaning, and I understand that, but when a voice matches a beat behind it and that's what good music is.
