  • ANDY BEHRENS: It's Andy Behrens with Yahoo Sports.

  • We're about a week and a half into the fantasy season

  • and we have some players off to unexpected hot starts.

  • Want to play a little game of believe or make believe.

  • Let's start in Houston with Tyler White.

  • Now look, is Tyler White going to every week give you three

  • home runs in a .500 average?

  • No.

  • Heck no, he's not.

  • He's not Trevor Story.

  • Come on, let's be realistic.

  • But I do believe in Tyler White over the course

  • of the full season.

  • You look at this kid's minor league slash line.

  • Just historically, .311 batting average. .422 on base.

  • .489 slugging percentage.

  • Not huge power, but he just absolutely lives on base.

  • This is a very good hitter and he's raking right now.

  • And I know you're worried about the arrival of AJ Reed,

  • but it's the American League.

  • There are places to stash a great hitter.

  • White has played a little third base, he can DH for that team

  • he can play first base.

  • Plenty of spots to put him.

  • I think he's going to be very effective all year.

  • Again, I don't think it's necessarily

  • going to be 30 home runs, but a nice power total, and a very

  • nice batting average.

  • We look at another player in Jeremy Hellickson.

  • Off to a huge start for the Phillies.

  • 11 in 2/3 inning so far.

  • 11 K's.

  • It's a solid enough brand name.

  • Maybe you've owned him before.

  • Maybe you've enjoyed him before.

  • I cannot believe it, though.

  • This, to me, is make believe.

  • You look at the velocity on his average fastball so far.

  • It's 88.8 miles an hour.

  • That is not going to play over a full season.

  • I know you like that he's in the National League,

  • but that bullpen is terrible.

  • He's going to be a wind challenged pitcher.

  • There are a lot of earned runs upcoming.

  • I do not believe in Jeremy Hellickson.

  • Let's look at another Jeremy.

  • Jeremy Hazelbaker in St. Louis.

  • This is just the latest invention

  • of the Cardinals front office.

  • Not somebody who was on the prospect radar.

  • Not even really a prospect.

  • He's been in the minor leagues for seven seasons.

  • He's come up, and he's basically like three

  • or four hits a night.

  • Now, he's not going to maintain this batting average.

  • This is a .264 career hitter in the minors,

  • but I will say Hazelbaker has a lot of speed.

  • Very athletic player.

  • Put up some huge stolen base totals in the minor leagues.

  • So I believe in that one narrow lane, right.

  • I think you're going to get some stolen bases here.

  • I don't think it's going to be a great average

  • and I don't think there's going to be a ton of power.

  • But who am I to doubt the Cardinals?

  • And the final name we need to talk about Eugenio Suarez.

  • A lot of us liked him coming into the season for Cincinnati,

  • right.

  • He's eligible at shortstop.

  • He's playing third, so now he has that eligibility.

  • That's a pretty good position eligibility situation overall.

  • Those are premium spots.

  • Great power and speed start to his season.

  • This is another case where I believe, but only mostly.

  • Right.

  • Like, I think the power is real.

  • I definitely think Suarez can hit 20 home runs.

  • We saw a nice power surge from him last season

  • when he finally got an opportunity to play.

  • So yeah, I believe in him in that area.

  • I don't think the stolen bases are going to be there.

  • You look at his minor league track record,

  • he was a 269 hitter, so I don't think the average is

  • going to be there.

  • But he is hitting near the top of the Reds order,

  • right ahead of Joey Votto.

  • So I think there's a clear path to 20 home runs.

  • Maybe 85 runs scored, maybe 80 RBIs as well.
