  • >> We go into, Um, drawing many different, uh types of things. For instance, like, we

  • do perspective, both one, two and three uh point

  • perspective drawings. We also do things with, uh drawing still lives and drapery. We'll

  • actually be drawing from, uh models that will be coming

  • in, which is a really great opportunity that you don't really get in, in schools.

  • >> In drawing, the first couple of days we're, we're doing perspective, and now we are doing

  • drapery and we're using a lot of charcoal.

  • >> In the sketching classes, we learn about technique and shading, and how to draw figures.

  • >> Notice that his head is relatively flat on top, it's a bit of a block head, it's flat

  • on top and has this angle right here, and the nose

  • is relatively flat. His jowels come down the side.

  • >> I think Jared doesn't have to keep running around a lot, and spend like a lot of time

  • with you and stuff.

  • >> The way that I run my program is the first week is all curriculum that I have written

  • out for my students. But the second week is all

  • derived from what my students are interested in, what they're doing, they're directly engaged

  • in, because that's what they're interested in drawing,

  • whether it be "Oh I wanna learn how to draw the figure, or I wanna learn to draw trees,

  • or what's up with clouds, how can you get that fullness,

  • that richness, that depth and dimension within clouds?", and I say "ok, let's do that" so,

  • I give myself a week and the weekend, to write all

  • of the curriculum for the second week, and then the second week comes and students are

  • excited because not only are we learning and doing the

  • same fun things we've been doing all week, but now, what we're learning is directly,

  • uh derived from what they're interested in. So, that's a really

  • great opportunity that you don't get in many schools, cause most of the time, the curriculum

  • is set sometimes years before you even meet the

  • teacher, whereas here, um, I'm constantly tailoring what I do to meet the needs of all

  • my students - it's their interests and what they want to

  • learn about that's gonna be driving the course for the second week.
