It's a beautiful spring day here at Mount Washington, today I’m going to give you guys some tips on skiing the bumps. So when we’re skiing in the bumps, there are a couple things we need to think about. First of all we need to be able to bend and extend our legs in order to absorb those bumps. The next thing we need to think about is being able to move our feet forwards and backwards… push them forward and pull them backwards and that way we can maintain balance. So notice as I’m coming down the bumps I’m pushing my feet into them in anticipation of hitting it… when I do hit it. I just let my legs collapse and let the bump push my feet back underneath me. It’s kind of like I’m riding a bicycle backwards. … The only difference is I’m going to do it with both feet at the same time. Check this out… So as I’m skiing into the bump I push my feet ahead. As I hit the bump I just let my legs collapse and that bump just pushes my feet right back underneath me. Then I can push my tips down the backside of the mogul and I’ll maintain balance the whole way through. Try that next time you’re out skiing moguls.
