  • Welcome to the skilled channel. And today we're talking about upcoming games that implement

  • elements of fantasy in one way or another. They may involve supernatural elements or

  • imaginary worlds, but they are all focused on fun and immersion. So let's take a look

  • at the top 10 most anticipated fantasy games.

  • 10 Fable LegendsPC, XB1 / TBA Fable Legends focuses on co-operative RPG

  • gameplay. Four heroes will face off against one villain online. Each hero has unique abilities,

  • powers, and techniques. But ultimately the villains control how the quests playout. The

  • game is based around five players: four heroes, and a villain. The AI controls the characters

  • in the absence of a human player. But the villain player controls the nature of the

  • quest the hero characters play, such as where enemies will spawn, how aggressive they are,

  • when the boss will attack, and when to lay traps. The villain earns points over time,

  • which can be spent on units for an even bigger army of evil foes.

  • Unlike other games in the series,Fable Legendsis essentially a dungeon crawler

  • and is very different from the previous games. The player can customize their hero's weapons,

  • looks, armor, abilities and more. Like many other games in the franchise, heroes can also

  • use expressions to interact with villagers. In the hub-city ofBrightlodge, players have

  • the opportunity to partake in jobs, play mini-games and enjoy pub games. Once the player selects

  • a quest, they are immediately sent out into the world. The game is intended to have a

  • 5-10 year life-cycle, and will be integrated into the cloud features of the Xbox One. Fable

  • Legends release date is still to be announced, but it will be releasing for PC and Xbox One.

  • 09 Tales Of Symphonia HDPC / TBA 2016 Tales of Symphonia returns in HD on the PC

  • platform with modernized graphics. Like previous installments in theTalesseries,Tales

  • of Symphoniaconsists primarily of three major areas: anoverworldfield map, town

  • and dungeon maps, and a battle screen. The overworld map is a 3D model, featuring a scaled-down

  • version of the game's fictional world which the player travels through to reach the game's

  • locations.

  • The story begins with Lloyd Irvingand his friend,Genis Sageaccompanying the chosen,Colette

  • Brunel and her guardians,Raine SageandKratos Aurionon her journey of world regeneration.

  • The purpose of the journey is to replenish Sylvarant with mana, a necessary energy to

  • their survival. The path of the journey consists of five temples which must be unsealed by

  • Colette. During battle sequences, the game uses the

  • Multi-Line Linear Motion Battle System. Four characters from thepartyare chosen to

  • battle. Damage dealt to the opponent fills a "Unison Gauge". When this is full, a "Unison

  • Attack" can be triggered, allowing the party to use techniques simultaneously on a single

  • enemy. Tales of Symphonia HD launches on PC Steam in 2016.

  • 8 BattlebornPC, PS4, XB1 / Feb 9, 2016 Battleborn is Gearbox's multiplayer shooter

  • that's kind of like a first person shooter moba hybrid. Think of Borderlands, but in

  • a big team based versus mode. It is multiplayer focused but it will have a story mode that

  • can be played alone or cooperatively. The story mode can be played with up to five people

  • online or in splitscreen. It will be modular which means players can replay certain missions

  • for a chance to get better loot. For the loot hunters, there will be plenty of gear to hunt

  • for. Chasing after better gear is the most addicting part of these games. The setting

  • of Battleborn is essentially about the last survivors of the sentient races in the universe,

  • fighting it out for the last star to save the universe.

  • The multiplayer mode will be 5 on 5 so this isn't huge scale multiplayer like Battlefield

  • but it's perfect for Gearbox's type of shooter. That means each individual player's contributions

  • count a lot more. There will be 25 unique characters to choose from and a detailed progression

  • system for those characters. Battleborn releases on February 9th, 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox

  • One.

  • 7 Yooka LayleeTBA 2016 Yooka Laylee is another 3D platfomer that

  • is planned for release in October of 2016. It is not only inspired by the late 90s 3D

  • platformers, but it is actually being developed by ex-Rare membersthe very same people

  • who worked on the Banjo Kazooie series. In this game, Yooka the chameleon and Laylee

  • the bat have to team up and use many abilities and transformations so that they can traverse

  • through the various worlds locked away inside magical books. They do this by collecting

  • golden items called Pagies that are strewn throughout the worlds. Playtonic Games, the

  • developer behind this nostalgic tribute, raised their funding goal in just 28 minutes on Kickstarter.

  • The game has since gone on to raise over 2 million pounds, which makes Yooka Laylee the

  • highest-funded UK game in Kickstarter history. Fans are definitely excited for this game.

  • Yooka Laylee's release date is still to be announced, but they are hoping to launch some

  • time in 2016.

  • 6 Star Ocean: Integrity and FaithlessnessPS4 / TBA 2016

  • Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessnes is the fifth game in this epic RPG fantasy series

  • published by Square Enix. The game occurs in Space Date 537, set between Star Ocean:

  • The Second Story and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. So this is centuries after humanity

  • has spread out from Earth. After many trials and the spread of the Galactic Federation,

  • humanity is finally on the verge of peace. However, on the planet of Faycreed, problems

  • have begun to arise.

  • The battle system is similar to other games in the Star Ocean series, with the player

  • controlling a character in one-on-one battles, with the ability to switch control of characters.

  • Boss battles will feature the entire party facing off against a boss. The real-time action

  • battle system features improved game mechanics. Battles will take place directly on the overworld

  • field instead of a separate location. This time around cutscenes are intended to transition

  • seamlessly with gameplay.

  • Star Ocean releases on the PS3 and PS4 on February 25, 2016 in Japan and the North American

  • PS4 release date is still To Be Announced.

  • 5 Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 PC, PS4, Xbox One / 2016

  • Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is the sequel to the fun multiplayer fantasy shooter.

  • In Garden Warfare 2, the Zombies have finally won the battle and now they have to defend

  • Zomburbia from the plants who are trying to reclaim it.

  • Players who unlocked characters in the first game will have their characters in the sequel

  • already unlocked. In addition there are 6 new classes with over 100 playable characters

  • total and 12 new maps.

  • Many of the new classes offer unique features. The imp class is an agile dual wielding zombie.

  • He jumps in and out battle and deal heavy damage with his imp kata ability. Citron is

  • a bounty hunting orange from the future who helps the plants. He can transform into a

  • ball and launch into enemies. Super Brainz is a zombie character with a super hero like

  • appearance and he's the first melee oriented character. You'll get to play as these classes

  • and more in Garden Warfare 2 when it launches on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2016.

  • 4 Ratchet And ClankPS4 / June 30, 2016 Ratchet and Clank is shaping up to be a beautiful

  • re-imagining of the original game that released in 2002. This will mark the first Ratchet

  • and Clank movie release and it will be one of the biggest movie and game tie ins if they

  • are both successful.

  • One of the most exciting parts of Ratchet and Clank was landing on different planets

  • and exploring all of them. And the movement sections return grinding on rail systems and

  • hoverboards. We also see that they are using team based moves as Clank helps Ratchet by

  • transforming into a platform.

  • The Hud has been completely revamped and the scroll wheel weapon selection system is still

  • there so we can expect the same high variety of weapons. And just like the previous games,

  • it's a mix of dangerous explosives and other weapons that just straight up cause mischief

  • and mayhem. There's new explosive weapons, pyro flame throwers, and even the groovetron

  • which makes enemies dance. There's also a gun that pixelizes and slows the enemies.

  • The character modeling and animation looks like it's received the best treatment. The

  • way enemies move and appear on screen is so fluid. Even the city in the background looks

  • really filled out and detailed. There's so much clarity even with buildings and architecture

  • being far away. The game is just an amazing adventure for fans of all ages. Ratchet and

  • Clank releases June 30th only on the PS4.

  • 3 Kingdom Hearts 3 PS4, Xbox One / 2016 Its been nearly ten years since we last

  • saw a Kingdom Hearts title, and now that Kingdom Hearts III has finally been announced, fans

  • are beside themselves with anticipation. The series expertly combines the timeless magic

  • of Disney with the fantastical sense of adventure of Squares award-winning Final Fantasy

  • series in a truly unique action-adventure experience. The story takes place after the

  • events of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. It features an older Sora as the main protagonist

  • who sets forth on a new adventure with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and more Disney

  • characters in search of seven guardians of light and the key to Return Hearts to stop

  • Master Xehanort's devious plan. Kingdom Hearts 3 releases on the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.

  • 2 ScaleboundXbox One / TBA 2016 Drew has been thrown into the magical world

  • of Draconis from our modern world. He sports headphones, jeans, and a black leather jacket,

  • a realistic look to contrast with the fantastical setting of Draconis. Drew looks like your

  • average guy but he has a dragon arm that allows him to connect with a dragon companion and

  • also perform supernatural attacks. Drew is bonded to Thuban, a massive dragon who is

  • the last of his kind. The binding means that the two characters share the same life stream,

  • if one dies, the other dies as well.

  • Drew mostly participates in combat from afar, firing explosive arrows at enemies and providing

  • Thuban with direction. There also throwable mines that can attach to enemies and detonate

  • when hit with a flaming arrow or Thuban's fire breath. On a smaller note, Drew's headphones

  • provide a cool added feature to the game by playing fast-paced dance music during combat.

  • In addition to normal attacks, Drew sports a dragon arm that allows him to heal Thuban,

  • attack with pulse energy, and scan enemies. Drew also collects energy from defeating enemies

  • that culminates in an overdrive-like attack, transforming him into a powerful half-dragon

  • for a short time. The intense strength of the dragon form rewards players for defeating

  • enemies by allowing them to mow down even more enemies with ease. When an enemy that

  • contains Pulse energy is killed, it drops red Pulse gems that Drew can use to upgrade

  • his equipment and Thuban himself.

  • At its core, Scalebound is still an RPG, so customization is a big feature. Players can

  • customize their own Thuban by selecting different body parts or colors. These modifications

  • will have an effect on how Thuban fights. If Thuban is made lighter with a bladed tail,

  • he will be more useful as an offensive weapon. If the player wants to do more of the fighting

  • with his or her own sword, a larger Thuban that can be used as a diversion and a damage-sponge

  • might be useful. The story of Scalebound will mainly focus on Drew, so while he can level

  • up considerably, he is not customizable. Scalebound releases some time in 2016 only

  • on Xbox One.

  • 1 Final Fantasy XVPS4, XB1 / TBA 2016 Final Fantasy is one of the longest running

  • RPG series and the fifteenth installment is bringing a lot of new gameplay elements. The

  • game takes place in a world similar to modern-day Earth. It has typical RPG gameplay but with

  • third-person action elements. The characters have the ability to traverse the environment

  • in a free-running style, which also extends to battle with larger enemies. The world is

  • a large connected landmass which can be explored on foot or by using a car or a chocobo. The

  • new camping system provides players a new way to level up their characters. Experience

  • points earned in battle during the day are converted into new levels during evening camping

  • periods. Final Fantasy XV is taking a huge leap forward and should hopefully reunite

  • fans of the series. The game releases on PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.

  • The fantasy genre reaches from RPG to adventure and action. There's such a wide variety of

  • games coming out that stretch the imagination and offer an experience that you can get lost

  • in. What are your favorite games from this list? Or did we miss any good ones? Let us
