  • WESLEY CHAN: Hey, everyone.

  • I'm Wesley.

  • PHILIP WANG: I'm Philip, and along with Ted,

  • we are Wong Fu Productions.

  • You might know our channel from some of our music videos,

  • sketches, romantic dramas.

  • We've been on YouTube since the very beginning.

  • We released the music video to AJ Rafael's

  • "When We Say (Juicebox)," back in 2010.

  • WESLEY CHAN: The music video was about just having feelings

  • for someone, but them having to leave

  • and having to deal with that, a theme that's

  • very relatable with Wong Fu Productions.

  • AJ was really fun to work with.

  • I remember we would just jump in the car, head to the beach,

  • and we'd say, AJ, take your guitar out.

  • Just play here.

  • Look really sad.

  • He would just turn on it.

  • It was just a really good time shooting with him.

  • [MUSIC AJ RAFAEL, "WHEN WE SAY (JUICEBOX)"]

  • It was a quick shoot, so we were just

  • jumping from place to place.

  • PHILIP WANG: It's funny, because you say, oh yeah, at that time,

  • we just were run and gun, just jump out of the car,

  • get the shots, go to the next spot.

  • I'm like, isn't that kind of still how we sort of do things?

  • WESLEY CHAN: Yeah, it kind of is.

  • It's the nature of YouTube though.

  • PHILIP WANG: I guess so, yeah.

  • In terms of Asian American artists,

  • we didn't really have a platform for us to be seen, like on TV

  • or in the movies.

  • And YouTube was so important for these artists to be seen.

  • And it's really cool that we got to be part of that,

  • and we got to help expand it, and push it, and create

  • a sense of identity for this community.

  • WESLEY CHAN: When we started, we didn't

  • want to tell Asian stories specifically.

  • We just wanted to tell normal stories

  • with normal people that happened to be Asian.

  • PHILIP WANG: We actually just finished

  • shooting our first feature film, which we funded ourselves

  • through Indiegogo.

  • WESLEY CHAN: We've been doing these shorts on YouTube

  • for so long.

  • And us and the fans have wanted something bigger,

  • a bigger story, a bigger project.

  • PHILIP WANG: The movie's about a world where

  • everyone's relationship and relationship

  • history is monitored by a Department of Emotional

  • Integrity, which is kind of like a real life DMV.

  • WESLEY CHAN: We follow two love stories.

  • One is a story about young love and how it changes.

  • And the other one is about rekindling an old love.

  • PHILIP WANG: We'll always have a special place for YouTube.

  • It's not like our channel's going to stop.

  • We're always going to want to make stuff for our channel.

  • Don't worry, we're not going anywhere.

  • We're just doing more.

  • We hope you like this throwback, and if you guys actually

  • remember watching this video when it first came out,

  • extra special thank you to you guys

  • for sticking with us after all these years.

  • WESLEY CHAN: We can't wait to show you

  • this movie and everything else we have coming up.

WESLEY CHAN: Hey, everyone.
