It's not the best-looking version of this phone.

I think the silver monocolored versions are better.

Um, I, you know, I reviewed the phones, and, uh, I also have this theory because we've talked about Nothing before about why they're not doing a flagship this year.

They're not doing a—yeah, you can hold it.

And it's interesting, and I think, you know, you mentioned RAM prices.

I think Nothing is in a really tough spot, whereas a smaller company, they don't get the best costs because their order sizes from suppliers are smaller.

And in general, they—they probably spend more for all the same specs as the big, you know, flagship companies.

They, at these conditions, can't really make a competitive flagship.

Last time they tried was Nothing Phone 3 last year, 800 bucks, kind of got flamed for it.

but it just wasn't, you know, a full-on flagship, especially the camera performance.

What they do thrive at is really good mid-range phones.

These are competitive, good, well-priced mid-range phones.

Triple cameras for that price. iPhone can't say that.

Samsung might have a triple camera phone at that price, but it's like, that's nice.

And then the 4a Pro that you're holding is $500,

and it's, hmm, not as great of a deal, but it's still pretty good.

I'm curious, you know, now that you're holding one and looking at the 4a Pro, what you think of.

Yeah, I want to boot it up real quick and just kind of see the stuff.

Again, like you said, um, so it's metal, so no wireless charging.

Metal phones are sick, but no wireless charging is sad.

I'm fine with that because, like, if you give me no wireless charging in a glass back, then I'm mad.

If you're going to not give us wireless charging, then give me the premium,

I will miss wireless charging, but I'm glad they at least gave you the premium other option.

I think that Nothing is still doing a pretty good job with the constraints that they had.

Like you said, the $349 one is cooking like crazy.

You know how on Twitter, randomly, some bot will like a tweet that you made from, like, 10 years ago?

So yesterday, a bot liked a tweet that I had made in a thread about the Pixel 4a when it first came out,

And I really—obviously, Pixel 4a is one of my favorite Pixels they ever made.

And I was sort of just talking about the software makes up for it, etc., etc.

This is like—I mean, the Nothing Phone 3 4a is sort of like the—it's a much better version of that.

So it's got everything that the Pixel 4a had, but, you know, it's more premium in many, many ways.

So if you look like, you know, even if you add inflation into account, where how many years—six years after the Pixel 4a—and we still have this, being able to buy something like that at $349 is still an incredible deal, especially in the universe we are currently living in with, like, RAM shortages and stuff.

Um, so—but like you said, it's going to come down to whether or not you actually want the extra stuff that comes with the Pro and if you're okay with the metal unibody versus the other designs.

I think these phones are awesome at their price point.

I don't love the pink on this as much because inside the camera bump, it doesn't match, whereas the black one has a, like, black interiors and the silver one has the white interiors.

This basically has the silver interiors on the camera bump.

They didn't send us the silver one, which I think is the best-looking one.

It matches the best with the red accent and everything, which I'm bummed about.

But there's a small example I wanted to just throw in here of Ellis talking about how, like, technical versus marketing aspects and how that can kind of be confusing.

And it made me realize, like, sometimes with these, uh, briefs or, like, press briefings and the briefs that they actually send us, it feels like we're translators at some point because we need to find—goes from technical to marketing jargon to us then trying to figure out the level of technical and jargon to use.

But on the 4a Pro with the Glyph system, the interface, the LED interface.

Um, they write it is, like, 50% bigger and twice as bright.

and I'm, like, going through it and making sure everything's correct and seeing what else we can add to it.

And I go, "Oh, it's bigger." The easiest way to prove that it's bigger other than showing it is to find out how many LEDs are inside of it, because they made a big deal of it being, like, 137 mini LEDs in here.

The old one must be less." And then I keep getting this that the Nothing 3 has 489 micro LEDs, while this has 137 mini LEDs but is bigger.

So their way of saying this is, "Oh, this is physically bigger, but

also way worse resolution." But we're not going to say it has less pixels in it.

They'll never say that in the press release.

And truthfully, I don't think it matters.

I think it gets the point across in there.

I don't think you need—because the resolution still looks terrible on the 489 pixel one.

499 is still a very good price for a phone like this.

I just have—I have beef with the higher they go up in the range,

and I think that would have toppled with a Pro phone or with a, like, a flagship phone.

It's like the 349 Nothing 4a is a great deal and a really good phone for the price.
