All of the apartments that I've just shown you are part of Frippian Narutake, four apartment complexes in Kyoto where the rent ranges between $250 to $350 per month.

And today I'd like to show you guys how even you can rent your own apartment in Japan.

But before we go inside, let me show you the neighborhood of these apartments.

Although the apartments themselves are not near what would be considered the city center, the neighborhood truly is beautiful.

There's many universities very close by, and

there are also multiple buses and trains that connect you to downtown Kyoto or even to other cities in the Kansai region.

Also, if this is your first time moving alone to a foreign country, you don't have to worry because the owner of the apartments, Mr.

Murakami, is at reception every weekday so you can always come to him with any questions.

Anyways, now let me show you the apartment itself.

Okay, let me start here in the kitchen area.

First thing I got to mention is that there's a lot of storage space in the entire apartment.

So for example, starting here in the Genkun area, there's a lot of storage space for, you know, shoes, clothes, and

Then here under the sink, there's a lot of storage space.

Even here, you know, above the sink, there's even more storage space, so there really is no shortage.

Another important thing to mention is that each unit comes fully furnished.

So starting at the kitchen area, you know, we got a freezer with a fridge.

But if you don't want to buy your own vacuum cleaner, maybe you're staying here only for 6 months or something and you don't want to buy one, the landlord also has a bunch of vacuum cleaners that you can borrow anytime during the day.

So yeah, honestly, I think a kitchen like this for one person is, uh, more than enough.

You know, typical Japanese bathroom where it's basically one room all connected.

Uh, the bathtub, the shower, the sink, and

the toilet is basically in this one, um, pod room kind of.

Anyways, now that we've seen the kitchen, this is the room itself.

As you can see, there's plenty of natural light coming from the windows.

As you can see, the kitchen and the bathroom area is dividable by this, uh, sliding door, which actually comes really handy in winter because, uh, when you're using the AC to heat up the room, no heat escapes the room, uh, through the kitchen, which is really great.

Then the second sliding door is actually the closet.

Once again, there I got my backpacks, you know, my hangers.

But also, you know, another shelf right here where you can fold and put other clothes.

You also got a mirror, you know, all the essentials, basically.

Each room comes, uh, you know, with a table, with a chair.

Here's my little, uh, video editing and recording area, as you can see.

You can decorate the room, you know, however you like.

Then I think each room comes with, you know, even more storage space, some shelves for books, and

Then, you know, another shelf there where I got some documents, some, you know, plushies.

Now I think this goes without saying, but each room also comes with a bed, of course.

Although not like this, this is a bed that I myself have bought for the apartment.

Usually each apartment comes with a single bed.

But as I said, you can kind of decorate and modify the apartment however you like to an extent, of course, after consulting, uh, with the landlord, you know, just to make sure that it's okay, whatever changes that you want to make.

So yeah, I bought this semi-double bed, but

as I said, once again, uh, you don't have to buy a new bed if you don't want.

There's also AC, you know, which functions both as cool air conditioning in summer but also heating in the winter.

And yeah, I think that's about it for the room itself.

So last but not least, let me show you the balcony.

はいでは、今日のゲストはフリピアの所有者の村上さんです。よろしくお願いします。 フリピアの部屋は留学生向けだけですか、それとも京都で働いている人や長期滞在を考えている人も入居できますか。 はい、もちろん、あの、学生さんでも結構ですし、社会人の方でも結構ですし、えー、長期滞在ももちろん大丈夫です。ただし部屋は1人用にデザインされているので、えー、1人以上、ごめんなさい、2人以上住むことはできないです。 で、あのー、そう、僕のファンスは今、あのー、たくさんの人が留学をしようと思っているので、まだ日本語が少ししか話せない人でも入居はできますか。 はい、もちろんできます。あのー、私ももう40年ほど前ですけれども、アメリカに留学していて1年間だけですが、少し英語はできます。それと、えっと、翻訳機、トランスレーターマシンを持っていますので、英語以外でもイタリア語、フランス語、中国語、何でも大丈夫です。 それは本当に助かりますね。 はい、大丈夫ですよ。全然大丈夫です。 ちなみに、どうして外国人向けにアパートを提供しようと思ったんですか。やっぱりなんか他の文化や国際的なコミュニティに興味があるのかなと思って。 はい、私も留学経験があって、その当時は誰も助けてくれなかったです。えー、今みたいにインターネットもなかったですし、留学の申し込みもすべて郵便でしてました。で、アメリカ留学してたときにすごくいろんな人に助けてもらいました。で、えー、このマンションを父親から引き継ぐにあたって、えー、なんとか今まで、えー、外国の人からいろいろとお手伝いしてもらって大変感謝してたんですけれども、その恩返しで何かできないかなと思いまして、留学生たちを受け入れるようになりました。でもちろん立命館大学には、えー、徒歩で20分ぐらいの距離ですので、立命館大学さんから留学生の受け入れの問い合わせがあって喜んで受けさせていただいたということです。 僕も、あ、2022年と2023年、本当に助かりました。 いえいえ、そうそうそう。大変うれしかったです。ありがとうございます。 で、あのー、フリピアの最低の契約期間はどのぐらいですか。 はい、えー、最低は6か月以上お住まいいただきたいと思います。 で、今年または来年とかに入居したい場合、どのくらい前に村上さんへご連絡すればいいでしょうか。 えー、日本到着日の2週間前までには連絡をいただきたいと思います。 えー、それと留学生さんには家具、家電付きのお部屋を用意しております。日本の大体の賃貸のお部屋については家具家電が付いてないんですけれども、えー、フリピアナルタキは留学生たちが着いたその日から生活できるように家具家電、えー、食器類、調理器具、すべて用意しています。はい、ありがとうございまーす。 ありがとう、口田くんさんありがとうございます。 はい、じゃあよろしくお願いしまーす。 The room that I showed you at the start of the video is an apartment unit at Frippian Narutake 1, but

Now I already know some of you guys watching this video might be a little bit pessimistic.

You know, why should you take my word for it?

Firstly, I want to say that I really have a lot of experience living here.

I was living here for one year from 2022 to 2023 when I was here on a study abroad, you know, student exchange in university.

And this apartment was actually about 20 minutes away from my university, Ritsumeikan Daigaku, which was absolutely amazing because living so close to your university and having your own place is just such a huge advantage.

Anyways, that was my first experience living here.

And last year I actually got a job in Japan, in Osaka.

a part of my contract was that my employer would provide me with accommodation.

However, when my job was over, I also didn't have a place to stay anymore, right?

Murakami and was able to again get a place here where I've been staying for the past 6 months.

So take this from someone who has been living in this apartment building for over a year and a half, okay?

I've been living here for such a long time, and I literally have no complaints whatsoever.

Like when I say that this is the perfect place to live in Japan, I don't mean it with like a hyperbole or anything.

The location, the price, and the sweet landlord.

It's actually so mind-blowing that you're able to get such a good deal in Kyoto, you know, arguably the most beautiful city in Japan.

So yeah, no matter if you're coming here to study or to work or you're on a working holiday, no matter your nationality, just shoot a message to Murakami-san either on his email or Instagram.
