The character has a more interesting arc in what if where Ultron doesn't just win.

He kills Thanos in one blow and takes his gauntlet, evolving into Infinity Ultron.

The evil AI even becomes aware of the Watcher, prompting our narrator to challenge him with the Guardians of the Multiverse.

There's another Ultron variant out there.

This one is remorseful of his actions, leading to an unlikely team up and sacrifice on Ultron's part.

Remember the saying, you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain?

It works in reverse for Ultron, who learns the value of life only after destroying most of it.
