What happened overnight is that Iran retaliated for the attacks on its gas facilities by striking very big and very expensive assets belonging to Qatar, Saudi Arabia and also that they are being co owned with Western companies such as Shell and Exxon in countries in Qatar, in Saudi Arabia, in Kuwait and in the uae.

So the damage could be in the tens of billions of dollars.

Oil prices immediately jumped by 10% to $119 per barrel and gas prices in Europe rose by 25%.

But it doesn't actually tell the full picture because in the physical market there's a big, big shortage at the moment.

I mean, to put it simple, the world has lost around a quarter of oil that it was getting daily before the war started.

So when a quarter of something is not available, I mean inevitably people will be scrambling to buy more and more oil and products for higher prices.
