From March 17 to 21, the first ever ethnic group women's football tournament, the VTV 5 Cup 2026 will take place in Zha Lai province.

Bringing together women's team from various localities including Zailai, Nakluk, Guanghai provinces and Army Corps 15 economic defense units.

More than just a sporting event, it is a meaningful arena where the passion and aspirations of young women from the highlands can can truly shine.

In March, as white coffee blossoms blanket the Central Highlands, small football fields in remote villages come alive with energy and excitement.

For many women in the highlands, football is more than just a sport.

After long, exhausting days of work, the coffee blossom season has helped the Bana people improve their livelihoods.

Even though work can be tiring, having football to play with helps me feel refreshed, healthier and happier.

Each player has a different background and life story, but a shared love for the game unites them.

I often practice in the village with younger kids.

Sometimes I even skip meals because I enjoy playing so much.

For many, this passion begins on small dirt fields in their villages where children gather to play after school.

And sometimes that love is nurtured within the family itself.

My mother used to player for the Dukdua Commun team.

I followed her to practice and that's how I fell in love with football.

For the first time, the flowers of the Central Highlands will step onto the field together in a tournament dedicated to ethnic group women.

And they will dazzle in their traditional costumes.

I'm not sure how easy it will be to run, but

I feel proud to wear my people's traditional clothing on the field.

From small village pitches, the footsteps of players like Yi, Thuy, Yimin and Tuan are lifting the sporting dreams of highland women.

And as the ball rolls, the dance of the pitch in the great forest comes alive.
