My instinct was that we had to kind of repay the fans for their investment in the show and for making the show the kind of phenomenon that it is.

And I think that it had to justify its existence as a piece of cinema.

And that, like, there was a lot of pieces that needed to be tied up correctly.

And also, I felt without any spoilers, really, that it needed to be a fitting conclusion to this chapter of the story.

You know, the thing about television is you always have a cliffhanger.

That's the nature of series, you know, Whereas this.

The ending was the most important thing, and it's the hardest thing to get right in screenwriting.

You personally called everybody to ask them to be a part of this.

He's actually trying to put casting directors out of business.

Well, what was it like getting that call?

No, I texted him because he got an Oscar.

I was like, keep your head down and run for the hills type thing.

And then out of that text, he texted me back and going, do you want to do a movie?

That was because it was a tough gig for you, especially because it is, you know, the conclusion, in a sense.

So you want to sort of have good team, and they're lovely people.

And I think I keep banging on about this, but

if you write great parts, you get great, great actors, you know, And

I also think it's like, you can have great actors.

We need people who are going to mock in and.

And have a bit of crack and have a bit of a laugh and get it done, too.

And then elevate the parts, you know, Rebecca and Barry both spoke about how that's what was with y'.

It felt like dancers that didn't need to practice the steps.

You guys just came up there and really delivered it, which is great.

But I know it wasn't all fun and games because, again, like, I know you had to do a lot physically and emotionally with this character.

What is the hardest part of getting into Tommy Shelby and how do you do it?

I think there's two types of characters you can play.

Like, there's the ones that are extremely transformative, that are just such a long distance from you as a human being, and

then the ones that take a slight adjustment.

Now there's not one is not more easier, more difficult than the other.

So I had to, like, really spend an awful lot of time initially, but

Every time we do a new series, I'd have to do it.

But then when we were up and running, it began to get easier.

He began to kind of take over with each season.

So it was like the obvious things, like, kind of the walk, the accent, you know, looking back on the old series, on series, trying to figure it out, and, like, conditioning and all of that stuff.

Okay, what is the thing you're excited you'll never have to do again?

The cigarettes, the fake drinking, or the haircut?

One of my favorite moments in fashion was watching you in the villain show for Prada, where y' all walked as, like, the iconic villain.

Sorry, I'm just gonna jump right in there.

So they called me up, and I was on the phone.

And I just said out loud, my wife was there.

But I love that you've added another iconic villain to your already, like, incredible pantheon.

More than a slightly antagonistic to the gentleman across from you.
