Today, we're going to be going on a blue plaques walking tour and I'm going to be discovering amazing women who have made a significant impact in the area of science, technology and innovation.

I've arrived at number 53 Rimpole street to see the blue plaque of Diana Beck.

She was one of the world's first female neurosurgeons.

She is an incredible woman for so many different reasons.

There are so many firsts in her career, which was around the 1940s.

She was the first to run a department, she was the first female consultant in neurosurgery, and

at a time when women were not even admitted into the schools that taught neurosurgery.

But for me, what's really inspiring about Diana Beck is the fact that she was actually living with a neurological condition herself, which made her really tired, it gave her muscle weakness.

Yet with all of those challenges, she became an expert on brain bleeds.

And it's lovely to see her blue plaque here in the heart of Marylebone.
