This morning, more than 40 million Americans are waking up under blizzard warnings.

A "bomb cyclone" is burying parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast in wet, heavy snow.

The storm rapidly intensified as it crawled up the I-95 corridor on Sunday.

A light, wet snow early in the day turned into a legitimate blizzard for some.

I can't believe how much snow is coming down!

The heaviest bands of snow are dropping up to 3 inches per hour.

Winds are gusting up to 60 miles per hour.

Lightning illuminated the sky in Long Branch, New Jersey, with "thundersnow."

The storm is bringing multiple major cities to a standstill.

Officials in seven states have declared states of emergency.

"We're taking this so seriously because, literally, lives are at stake."

The entire state of New Jersey is under a blizzard warning for the first time in 30 years.

Hopefully, everybody stays home and doesn't come out in this.

The sloppy roads were too much for this plow, which overturned on Long Island.

New York City Mayor Zoran Mandani is banning travel until noon.

Essential vehicles are the only ones allowed on the roads.

Snowing still—from Delaware all the way now up to Boston, New Hampshire, and coastal Maine, which is just getting into it.

The radar is there on the picture, but look at some of those updated totals.

Freehold, New Jersey: more than 22 inches already.

New London, Connecticut: closing in on a foot and a half.

And this is, again, kind of midway through for a lot of people.

Let's time it out, because that's what people probably want to see and know—

that we're in that blizzard warning still, all the way from Delaware and Maryland up through coastal Maine.

It's that combination that makes visibility nearly impossible.

So we're going to see those conditions here through about noon in New York City and Philadelphia.

Then things will start to lighten up a bit.

Long Island will be still kicking a little into the early afternoon, and until the evening there in Boston.

Additionally, you could see easily 3 to 6 inches in some places that haven't had all of it yet.

Could be the biggest here in New York City in at least five years.
