She didn't order it online, she didn't buy a costume.

19 year old Ellie Farrell is a mechanical engineering student in Dublin, Ireland, and

the mind behind this real life Iron man suit that actually works.

I kind of was just like, I want an Iron man suit.

I'm just gonna do it like I might as well.

Inspired by Marvel's Tony Stark, Ferrell designed and assembled the suit piece by piece.

I just saw someone else doing it online and I saved up my own money.

I like got a really crappy 3D printer and I built it up myself, complete with hand blasters, lasers, and

Tony Stark's signature glowing arc reactor.

I think superheroes can be realistic and bringing it to life is what really entertains me and makes this more real.

Currently a second year college student, Ellie Farrell says she learned her skills before she even entered the classroom.

Covid hit when I was 14, so I had like nothing to do the entire.

For the entirety of COVID So two years just like building stuff straight.

Every piece required testing, tweaking, and PA patience to turn trial and error into a working design.

There's just like geared motors in the head, there's a microcontroller that has like some code written in it and a button in the chin.

So if I move my chin forward, it moves up, move it back, it moves back down.

And the lights are programmed to turn on at the same time.

And then there's like separate boards in the arm for the lasers that opens up and out.

Tony Stark isn't the only superhero who's inspired her.

And now, with a combined following of over 700,000 followers across social media, many of her videos on TikTok garner over 10 million views.

And in a field where women are still underrepresented, her work is showing young girls that engineering is not off limits or out of reach.

So instead of just seeing out the eyes, I have an actual heads up display.

I've always wanted to be someone that I would have wanted to look up to and be like, wow, they did that.

Farrell says she hopes her work encourages more women to take up space in workshops, labs, and classrooms.

Like, I've never really viewed myself as much different.

You can literally do whatever they're doing.
