I have a viewer question for my two for Tuesday Today.

Two for Tuesday is a homophone pronunciation lesson.

Homophones are words that are pronounced exactly the same way.

They just have different spellings and different meanings.

And we have the atom, which is the smallest unit of matter in American English.

We pronounce these with a flap T, which I like to teach as a very fast D sound.

So we are going to have syllable number one, the open ah, which has a very open, round mouth shape.

Tip of the tongue is low, back of the tongue is pulled high up.

Then we are going to add that super fast D and then say at the end.

So basically think about saying that super fast D and then moving to that M with your lips closed and the air comes out of your nose.

And when you move quickly from that, the air's keeping.

It's going to sound like you have a short U in there.

And it's going to help you to be nice and quick making the perfect unstressed syllable.

Adam had to study all about the atom in science class.
