A federal judge in Minnesota has declined to rein in the president's crackdown on immigrants.

State officials accused federal enforcement agents of civil rights abuses after two demonstrators died.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has ordered Homeland Security to stay away from protests in Democrat led cities unless they ask for federal help.

ICE and Border Patrol personnel will still guard federal buildings.

The recent killings by federal agents of protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretty in Minnesota as part of an aggressive immigration crackdown sparked outrage across the United States after tens of thousands marched in Minnesota on Friday.

Donald Trump has seemingly tried to ease tensions.

Posting on his Truth Social network, the president wrote that the Department of Homeland Security is under no circumstances to get involved with protests in Democrat led cities unless those cities ask for help.

But Minnesota was dealt a blow in its attempt to force ICE to suspend the operation that has seen around 3,000 federal agents enter the state, with a judge ruling on Saturday that their presence could not be ended immediately.

The state and its anti ICE protesters were given a boost when a judge in a separate case ordered the release of a five year old boy and his Ecuadorian father, whose detention on 20 January by immigration agents caused widespread condemnation.

Meanwhile, anti ICE sentiment has spread far beyond the US in Milan, hundreds took to the streets to protest after it emerged that ICE staff would be assisting the US Delegation at the upcoming Winter Olympics there.

We don't want the king, we don't want people that are killing people around the streets.
