If so, I can understand how deflating this is because deep down you know that you are one of the hardest working people in your office.

You are always delivering your work on time, at a high quality.

You always have accurate facts and information and great reports.

And yet at the same time, your managers, your boss, your co workers, your clients, your vendors, people that you work with, they are not seeing you as the leader that you know you're meant to be.

And instead all they see you as is a hard worker.

Another way to know this is perhaps you've been noticing that your less hard working co workers have been getting promoted or been given opportunities that you know you deserve.

Or perhaps in your latest performance review, your manager, your boss have shared with you that you do need to elevate the way that you speak, that you need to speak up more and that's going to help you to advance and grow your career.

And if you clicked on this video, it's because deep down you are naturally a little bit more quiet, a little bit more shy, you are a little bit more introverted and you're recognizing that this is hindering the way that you're performing at work.

And in many cases, what I've discovered in the work that I do with Quiet Achievers, that's what you are, a quiet Achiever.

Is that many Quiet Achievers, we are either children of immigrants or we are immigrants ourselves.

And part of that is it impacts our communication because we don't necessarily feel as though we belong in the workplace with the teams that we work with.

And that is all impacting this one key area of our life and that is our communication skills.

In this video, I'm going to share with you the exact process on how you can begin to communicate more clearly and confidently at work, regardless of how shy, quiet or introverted you are, so that you can eventually advance your career to the next level.

So on the agenda we are going to discuss why communication is the number one skill you need to have in this new world of AI.

So firstly, let's discuss why communication is so important and is a number one skill in this new world of AI that we're entering.

Whether you like it or not, AI has already started to take over some of the responsibilities and tasks of your job and that is only going to continue as we move forward and as quiet achievers.

There is a trap that many of us are in and that is the trap of believing that our work should speak for itself.

This means that in the past and up until now, you have heavily relied on the high quality work that you've produced to demonstrate to your manager, to your manager, of your manager, that you are a hard worker, that you're diligent and that you deserve the promotion and the opportunities.

But what happens when AI starts to do that work and at the same, or maybe even higher quality than what you've been producing or what's left?

The truth is, if AI is taking over, your job will need to shift too.

And that means you also need to shift as a result.

And so that means that if you want to be seen as a valuable, needed employee, then you need to hone in and nurture and harness and improve on the skills that AI cannot replicate.

The ability to guide, lead, direct, connect with others in a genuine way.

In other words, your communication skills.

Let's discuss the three key reasons why you struggle so much to communicate confidently at work.

Reason number one is that your anxiety and nervousness takes over and it freezes up your voice.

Words can't get out the way that you want them to.

This is the most common reason that I hear from quiet achievers and it's that when you walk into a meeting and you sit down and you're about to share your opinion, your idea, for whatever reason, when it gets once it gets to your turn, your body freezes up, you experience extreme anxiety and it's as if you're choking on your words and whatever message or idea you want to deliver just comes out choppy.

It doesn't come out cohesive, it doesn't come out in a coherent, composed way, and

you end up feeling defeated and deflated at the end of it.

Communication isn't actually your problem, because the truth is, communication is actually a byproduct of something much deeper.

Communication is a byproduct of how you feel about yourself, what you say to yourself, and

If at a deeper level, you are feeling calm, at ease, grounded, confident, within yourself, within your message, within what you have to share and say, then naturally your body will relax into that knowing and your voice will open up and you'll be able to express the words calmly, clearly, coherently.

But if at a deeper level, you are struggling to feel that you belong in the room, you feel that you perhaps don't have enough knowledge to share, or that your ideas aren't worthy at some level, in some way, shape or form, that impacts your ability to communicate.

So this is why I say communication is a byproduct.

The root issue goes much deeper, beneath the surface.

And in this diagram, you can see that I've shared exactly this concept.

It's a diagram I've created where at the top of the iceberg, you can see that you believe I just need to improve my communication skills.

But beneath the iceberg, in the deeper waters, you're seeing that it's related to a whole slew of issues as to why your communication is not at optimal levels.

And this is what we address in the Quiet to Confident program.

We get beneath the surface, we start to dig beneath the surface.

Because the truth is, you cannot solve any issues at a surface level permanently.

If you want to resolve them at a permanent level, you have to go deep.

And so in the Quiet to Confident program, we ask the right questions, we dig deep, we look at what are the root reasons, and

So everyone's reasons for why they struggle to communicate confidently, it differs for each person.

However, once we're able to unlock that, then you'll be able to express yourself in a more calm, confident, composed way.

And a very simple tip that I can give you right now that you can start using to try to investigate and get to the root of your anxiety is to simply ask yourself a question.

And that question is, what am I telling myself?

What am I choosing to Say to myself, at a deep level, that's causing me to feel nervous, that's causing me to feel anxious.

By being willing to turn inward and investigate and look at that deeper level reason, you start to break it up.

You start to unlock the root of that nervousness, that anxiety.

And over time, the more that you do this, you will see, you will find that you will feel much more at ease and calm and comfortable in your own skin.

But it starts with that deep inner self investigation.

All right, moving on to reason number two as to why you struggle to communicate confidently at work is that you believe that the results of your work should be enough.

This is something that I see very often with quiet achievers, especially those of us, like I said earlier, who are immigrants or children of immigrants.

We're born in maybe Asian cultures, South Asian cultures, African cultures, Eastern European cultures, anything that's non Western.

Basically where we were told growing up that you need to just work hard, put your head down, don't speak out of line, don't talk back, don't share your opinions.

As long as you are being humble and you are doing the work that you need to do that will lead to success.

And what happens is we carry this mindset of I just need to work hard, put my head down, do what I need to do into the workplace.

You know, as a junior, you will get to a certain level if you work really hard in your job.

Your boss will notice you, your manager will notice you, and

eventually you might make it to senior analyst level or so senior specialist level.

But when you're trying to get to that management level, maybe you've even gotten to management level from working hard.

Once you get to sort of that mid management level, that's where a lot of quad achievers start to feel stuck.

They start to feel stagnant in their careers because they're putting in all this effort and doing all this work similar to how they've been doing for the last five years.

And yet it's not getting them any more results or opportunities.

If anything, they're finding that they're seeing their co workers get those opportunities, the co workers who aren't working as hard.

But maybe, maybe there's something about the way that they're showing up, the way that they're communicating, the way that they're connecting with the individuals in the company that is different from how you are.

And so you're noticing that something needs to shift.

And that is this idea that hard work alone is Enough, because we all know it.

So try to think of it this way and to remember that your quality of work is only 50% of the equation to career success and advancement.

The other 50% is your ability to connect and communicate with your colleagues, teams and bosses.

In other words, it's no longer about just hard work.

It's also about the relationships that you are able to build and develop.

And I know as an introvert, I know as a quiet achiever, this is the last thing that you really prioritize or care about.

But this is the biggest mindset shift that needs to happen is that you need to start prioritizing, getting to know the people around you, conversing with them, because they need to know your name, they need to know your face, they need to know what you're up to, so that in the future, when opportunities arise, they'll see that you have what it takes for that other opportunity that you want to pursue.

If people don't know who you are, if you are invisible, it does not matter how hard you are working, it will go unnoticed.

They're actually very focused on themselves, just as you're focused on yourself.
