So you're visiting Buenos Aires and it looks like it's going to rain a lot.

This city is actually great for moody gray days.

In fact, some of my favorite experiences in Buenos Aires have been on rainy days where I've had the opportunity to explore cafes, theaters, shopping galleries, museums, you name it.

And in this video, I'm going to share 15 things you can do in Buenos Aires if you happen to get a rainy day or two.

Number one, I'm going to suggest you go on a guided tour of Palacio Barolo.

This building is 100 meters tall and it has a beautiful vantage point of Buenos Aires and the National Congress.

And the best way to experience this building is through a guided tour, because every architectural detail has a meaning.

So this building was inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy.

And that means that the tour takes you conceptually through Hell, Purgatory and then heaven as you move your way up through the building.

So an elevator gets you most of the way to the top, but

then at the very end there is a spiraling staircase and you do have to climb eight different floors.

I did this while I was pregnant, so don't worry, I think you can also manage and it really is worth it for the views.

So atop this building there is a glass lighthouse that offers 360 degree views of the city.

I would say that is the highlight of visiting Palacio Barolo.

And aside from that, once you are done with your guided visit, there's also a bar, it's called Salon 1923.

The bar has an outdoor terrace, again, more city views.

And it's a really popular spot if you want to enjoy a cocktail at sunset.

And as a heads up, tours run in English and Spanish and they're about an hour and a half in length.

These are historic bars and cafes that are scattered across Buenos Aires.

And they are recognized because of their cultural or architectural significance too the city.

So these are very beautiful historic spaces with high ceilings, marble tables, wood counters, vintage mirrors.

So it's not just about going there and drinking coffee.

You are going there for a bit of the Porteno history.

And it's just a really nice place to linger on a rainy day.

Some of my favorite bars include Cafe Tortoni, Petite Colon Bar, El Federal, Los Trentai, Seiz Bidares.

But there is a huge list of them across the city.

You can find these bades notables in any neighborhood.

My tip would be go with a book, order yourself a cafecon Leche, a plate of facturas, these delectable pastries, and

Number three, Go to a tango and dinner show.

You cannot come to Buenos Aires and not go to a tango show.

The River Plate was the birthplace of tango, both on the Argentine and the Uruguayan side.

And there are just countless shows that you can attend.

And I think this is a great rainy day activity, especially if you're looking for something to do in the evening.

You can actually sign up for a tango lesson and then enjoy a meal.

Usually it's a three course meal as well as a show and lots of different styles of shows.

You've also got shows that incorporate folkloric dancing, some are a bit more Broadway style.

So there's something for all tastes and all budgets.

Another great rainy day activity in Buenos Aires is to tour the National Congress.

Now, in theory they say that these tours run Monday to Friday at 12 noon and 5pm, but

that is not the case because if Congress is in session, these tours get canceled.

So basically what I would suggest doing is going on the official Senado website and then you're going to scroll down to the schedule for the week and you're going to see if there are any listings for a Visita Giada of the Palacio Legislativo.

If you see that there is a slot listed, show up for that time slot and show up at least 30 minutes early because they only take 30 people on a guided visit and once they've hit their limit, that's it, they will turn you away and you've got to try again.

So on this guided tour, you get to visit the Senate, you get to see the Chamber of Deputies, you get to see a whole bunch of rooms and salons that are just really elaborate and ornate.

So if you want to learn a little bit more about how Argentina's government works and visit a beautiful building, this is a great opportunity to do so.

You do need to bring id, so that means DNI if you are Argentine or from the Mercosur, or a passport.

If you are a foreigner, you're going to have to go through security, scan your bags, almost like airport security, and

Don't forget it at your hotel, because I've seen plenty of people have to run back and get them.

Another wonderful rainy day activity in Buenos Aires is to visit Teatro Colon or the Colon Theater.

Again, this is another architectural marvel in the heart of the city.

It overlooks Avenida Nueva de Julio, and it dates back to 1908.

And going into the theater almost feels like you're walking through a grand palace.

You've got the marble floors, the French stained glass, Venetian mosaics.

No luxury was spared when they were building this theater.

So the auditorium is horseshoe shaped and it has 2,487 seats.

So I would say book a guided visit of the Teatro Colon and then if you have enough time, come back on another day to either see a ballet or the orchestra draw or an opera.

Another place you can visit on a rainy day in Buenos Aires is Casa Rosada, or the Pink House.

So this is the executive mansion and the office of the Argentine president, and

There are lots of different stories about this, but

one explanation I've read is that red and white symbolize the opposing 19th century political factions.

The so they decided, hey, we're going to mix red paint, white paint, make the building pink, and

Now, as a heads up, the Pink House isn't always open for tours.

You need to go on the official website and check the dates and what availability they have.

At the moment, they're only booking school groups.

Check anyways, because things are constantly changing.

If for some reason the Pink House is closed for guided visits, another place you can visit is Museo de la Casa Rosada, or the Pink House Museum.

This building covers over 200 years of Argentine history.

The setting of this museum is really cool because it is located underground in the former foundations of the city, like dating back to the colonial days.

And you can see all sorts of old vehicles and documents and valuables that belong to different Argentine presidents over the course of history.

So again, well worth it and very easy to do on a rainy day.

Next up, if you get a rainy day in Buenos Aires, you can go visit all the grand palaces.

So you may have heard that Buenos Aires is called the Paris of South America.

It is because of these belle epoch mansions and palaces that were built by Argentina's elite.

Most of these buildings date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s.

And these wealthy families brought over European architects and European building materials and just built these lavish constructions.

You can see them across the city, but they are especially concentrated in the neighborhood of Recoleta.

Also, a lot of these constructions have been repurposed and now house Museums.

So just to give you some examples, we have Palacio de Aguas Corrientes, which is the Waterworks museum.

You have Palacio Paz, which is the national arms Museum, number eight.

This is one of BA's coolest hidden gems, and it is an underground time capsule.

It is located in the neighborhood of San Telmo, and

it was discovered in the 1980s during a mansion restoration.
