Police in Switzerland say they've identified more victims of a fire at a bar on New Year's Eve which killed at least 40 people.

It's incredibly sad to see the amount of people who have gathered, the grief they are expressing.

This is a Mass at St Christopher's Church that has been held today.

More than 100 others, to remind you, were injured in the incident.

Prosecutors in Switzerland have now started a criminal investigation into the managers of the bar, and

police say they believe the blaze was started by sparklers on bottles that were held too close to the ceiling.

Our correspondent Sarah Rainsford has this for us.

I'm right in the center of Comontana, just down the road from the bar itself, the Consolacion, which is just at the end of the foothill of the mountain there.

Because there is a Mass at St Christopher's Church this morning.

The normal Sunday mass has become a mass for the victims of the tragedy on New Year's Eve here in that bar, and

people here, of course, gathering to remember the many victims of this horrific fire.

We've learned this morning that more of the dead have been identified.

The police have said that now there's a total of 24 bodies that have been formed, formally identified, and

those bodies being returned to their relatives.

They are of various nationalities, not just Swiss.

There were many people who were here on holiday.

And a lot of the victims of this fire we have now had confirmed are very young teenagers, including Italians, including Swiss, including multiple nationalities.

And so, of course, for the families who had been, until that moment, hoping against hope that perhaps their relatives, their children, in many cases were in hospital somewhere, unidentified, yet they're getting the worst possible news, are now beginning the grieving process, knowing that their children have, in fact, died.

There was one woman who we were following on social media who'd been posting messages for several days, hoping that somebody would have seen her son Tristan, a teenager from here in Switzerland.

And she has recently posted that, in actual fact, she's now had it confirmed that he is among the victims of this fire.

And she has posted a photograph of him and said, you know, this is the worst possible news.

And, of course, it's a very small community, as you can see.

A lot of people on the street here wanted to take part in this commemorative mass this morning.
