So today we are diving head first into Buenos Aires, newest and fastest growing neighborhood.

We recently had the opportunity to spend five days in Puerto Madero.

So we want to share this neighborhood with you.

This is the former port and docklands area of Buenos Aires, but

it has undergone a huge transformation in recent years.

So now you can see skyscrapers, riverside promenades, and

the former brick warehouses now hold restaurants and breweries and cafes and hotels.

So it is a very exciting time to be in that neighborhood.

Another nice thing about it is that it is a place with a lot of green spaces.

You have parks, plazas and the Eco Reserve.

So you don't really feel like you're in the city when you're in Puerto Madero.

So in this video we're going to share everything that you can do in Puerto Madero.

Where to eat, where, where to stay, day trips you can go on.

And we're also going to talk about who this neighborhood is best suited for.

So who exactly is going to enjoy Puerto Madero?

First of all, this is kind of an expensive part of the city.

So you are going to pay a lot more for accommodations and food.

A lot of the hotels here are five stars, so that is something to keep in mind.

The other thing I noticed is that Puerto Madero is really kid friendly and family friendly.

So it might be a neighborhood to consider if you're traveling with children, especially young children.

Some other things to keep in mind is that Puerto Madero has a lower population density, so it doesn't feel very crowded.

You don't have the heavy traffic that you get in other parts of Buenos Aires.

The sidewalks are wider and it's just a nice place to walk around.

And you also have a lot of different activities for kids, both in terms of outdoor playgrounds and also museums geared specifically towards children.

So in short, you're going to see a lot of young families and you're also going to see a lot of people who are here to spend money and have a good time.

Now let's talk about things to do in Puerto Madero.

I'm going to kick things off with the ecological reserve, also known as Costa Nera Sur.

This Eco reserve is free to visit, a free attraction.

This is always wonderful and it's made up of 350 hectares of wetlands.

And they have trails, boardwalks and lookout points where you can enjoy the wildlife.

There's a lot of bird life if you're into spotting birds.

And the lookout points also give you nice views of the neighborhood where you can see the skyscrapers.

So we have three different lagoons we can visit.

There's the lagoon of the seagulls here, lagoon of the ducks and then lagoon of the coypos.

Not entirely sure, but it must be a type of bird.

So friends, I am super excited to be here because at long last we are visiting Reserva Ecologica Costanera Sur.

This is an ecological reserve here in Puerto Maderos where you can see all sorts of wildlife, specifically bird life.

And this is actually one of the primary reasons why we chose to stay in this neighborhood.

We have stayed in many, many different neighborhoods in Buenos Aires over the years, but never Puerto Madero.

And we love that it's close to this ecological reserve, that we were going to have lots of green spaces.

And it also seemed like a very family friendly neighborhood.

So right now we're just exploring the ecological reserve on foot and I'm looking forward seeing all sorts of aquatic birds over the course of our stroll.

So we had so much fun walking around here in the eco reserve.

And we've just popped into the interpretation center.

It's about five degrees cooler than outside.

It's just wonderful place to cool down after sweating out there a little bit.

But yeah, it was just a really fantastic park.

Obviously the coolest part about it is that it's absolutely free to visit.

Now I knew this park was going to be big like when I've looked at it on Google Maps.

But actually being there and seeing it in person, there's basically two different viewpoints.

The one viewpoint where you're looking back to the modern skyscrapers reminds me a lot of Hong Kong.

That contrast between the green space and the modern buildings.

But when you look to the other side, it's nothing but nature for as far as the eye can see.

We only just barely scratched the surface.

And we'll show you how much we actually covered here.

I know, we just did like this little part here.

So we came in through the main entrance this whole length.

But look at how much more you can explore.

So it's amazing and it's so nice to see how many people are coming here.

You have school, kids, there's people out jogging, there's families.

You see people out with their mate and priolitos.

This is somewhere we've always wanted to come in Buenos Aires, and

And this is an attraction that definitely lives up to its reputation.

As a little tip, it does get really warm at the eco reserve we visited in the late spring.

And I would say bring a hat, bring lots of water, and

if you're going a bit later in the summer, maybe also bring bug repellent.

Next, let's talk about the waterfront promenade.

That's probably the most iconic area of Puerto Madero.

It's what you normally see on the postcards on the documentaries in your guidebook.

And this is basically the former port area.

It is lined with red brick industrial buildings, these former warehouses where they used to store grains and goods to be loaded onto the ships and then sent off to Europe.

So a lot of these constructions are still standing.

They have just been repurposed and turned into steakhouses and breweries and bars and cafes and ice cream shops.

So it's a really cool area to walk around and just enjoy on foot.

So it is a beautiful day to be out and about.

So as you can see, the trees are in bloom.

These are called jacaranda and they have this beautiful purple flower and we've got like petals all along the boardwalk.

It's just so pretty and cheerful and spring like.
