And when you're writing a job application or a business note or an essay, you might use more formal English.

I know that's a big topic, but we have formal words and we have informal equivalents.

So for example, in these examples here, just getting in touch.

I am contacting you so get in touch is more informal.

Okay, so with your friends, hey, I'm getting in touch with a business colleague.

And the more formal equivalent is inquire.

So instead of saying, I want to apply for this job, you could say this vacancy, this position, this role.

So it's very important to know the formal and informal equivalents.

So can you match the informal on the left with the formal on the right?

You can just write number, letter, for example, need, require.
