If there's one thing that's a strong characteristic of Japan, it's their metro stations.

All roads, trains, planes, and even some waterways will eventually end up here.

It's fair to say that Japanese cities don't have downtowns.

And today we're exploring one of them to see what makes them the heart of a Japanese city.

Today we're checking out the metro station of Tama Plaza.

While you'll see that this station is certainly unique, it is also typical of so many other metro stations in the residential areas here in Greater Tokyo.

This is where every part of society connects.

Transportation, shopping, dining, and entertainment.

It's a big part of what makes Japan feel like Japan.

Let's always end up buying something there.

Ashman's is a great store that's like a sports store where you can get stuff.

Tonight we're going to enjoy exploring the station and see if we can find something fun to eat.

Ben and I patiently let the girls check out the store before we would set off to explore the rest of the station.

There's a lot around here, and we wanted to get a taste of it all.

The bus terminal is down here at Tama Plaza.

Like other major metro stations, you can get buses that connect you to all kinds of places, including airports.

It's all designed with ease of transfer to trains or cars in mind.

The stations in Japan are definitely next level with all their shopping and decorations.

There are pathways to all kinds of places and stations like these.

And you never know what may be down the stairway or around the next Corner.

In Japan, the decorations for illumination don't just last until Christmas and the New Year, but

So I think that's where we parked on this.

Malls like these are often attached to or put right next to the metro station where there's a lot of foot traffic.

The blast of heat of the doorway made us want to explore.

Friends of ours suggested a place on the other side of the station for us to try for dinner.

The actual train station itself is housed under the massive glass awning.

It could be a separate video all its own.
