I'm a volunteer here at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth in Cornwall.

And my role here is as a Half Moon battery or the Second World War placements.

My day to day role involves doing half moon battery tours or 1940s tours.

At the end of the day, you walk away thinking you really do feel like you've done something.

My dad was actually one of the very first custodians employed by English Heritage to sit here at Pendennis showing the public around.

My dad was passionate and he would come home telling us, you know, did you realize that it was built during Henry VIII's time?

And I'd pick up on these various things that he did.

So now to be able to give that over to the public, my knowledge that I've gained from the 16 year old up until what I've learned here at Pendennis, being able to walk in my dad's footsteps, it's great to do that.

I would hope that my dad would be extremely proud.

When I'm down talking to the public about the guns, I can hear my dad standing there, perhaps with a beaming smile on his face, thinking, yeah, you go for it, son.

We come on site because we want to be on site and we've got a great relationship.

We all have a laugh and a joke, great sense of humour and we learn from each other as well.

I would say if you have got an opportunity to volunteer, go for it.

It's a good opportunity to make connections with other people.

The people that come on site here, they have their own stories, their own history, and

it's a great way of connecting with those people in an environment as beautiful as Pandenas.
