I'm currently in downtown Kyoto and in Kawaramachi.

And today I have a different kind of video for you guys.

It's not my usual kind of video where I just like walk and talk about whatever.

Today I'm gonna do the ultimate cultured man's guide through hentai shops here in downtown Kyoto.

I probably shouldn't say that word out loud.

But yeah, let's start at the first, well the first shop.

The reason why I said our first hentai shop with air quotes before is because Book Off is not really a hentai shop.

It's more like a shop where you can find hentai.

Other than that, it's overall a really nice store for anything from CDs, games, anime figures, pokemon cards, gundams, and of course manga.

And yeah, the majority of Book Off stores also have a doujin section.

A doujin being the correct term for a hentai manga.

Here you'll find hentai mangas ranging from as cheap as maybe like 250 yen to probably 750 for the most expensive ones.

It's located in this like big mall called OPA.

Of course, all the locations of the stores that I'm gonna go to today are gonna be in the description, so you don't have to worry that you won't find it.

It's definitely, it's all gonna be linked on google maps in the description.

But yeah, worth noting that first of all, Book Off, it's not just that one shop, okay?

It's like the biggest chain of like pop culture secondhand goods in Japan, I think.

And it's worth noting that if you buy hentai manga from there, it's gonna be secondhand just like everything else, most of the time.

Most, if not everything, is gonna be secondhand if you buy it from there.

The pro is that you might find some pieces.

I'm not gonna say the H word so much because, you know, there are Japanese people around me and I don't want to like keep repeating it because it actually means something in Japanese.

But anyways, it's so hard to vlog in public.

No, but what I wanted to say is that even though it's secondhand, first of all, they always make sure that it's like in good condition, that, you know, the pages aren't sticky or whatever.

And it's always covered in like plastic, okay?

So you can be sure that nobody else touched it.

And also, you'll find like some pieces that you might not find in like some other stores that are the retailer because there might be, you know, some old school pieces that you might not be able to find that you would normally have to order online or something.

Okay, so now I'm in this like sort of, you know, busy venue.

I think I've been here in one of my previous videos, but it was during like, I don't know, like morning hours, like 6am to 7am.

So you guys might not recognize this place because right now it's like, it's full.

This right here, I'm not gonna go in because it's not really for the purpose of this video.

But this one right here, if you go up the stairs here to Animate, you will find...

It's a normal manga store, but what you will find there is a lot of boys love manga.

Like girls go there like in groups, like maybe two, three, four girls, and they go there and they look through the boys love section in that store.

So yeah, if you're a girl and if you're interested in that, definitely go there.

I guess I recommend it, but I've never bought anything there, allegedly.

But yeah, all the stores that I'll go through here in this video are all from like walking distance from each other.

So if you're gonna be visiting Kyoto, you will be able to literally go through all of them within the span of like maybe one or two hours, depending on how picky you are.

Anyways, right now, we are approaching, once again, another store.

Now this is already an actual hentai store, okay?

So if you can see right here behind me, that sign that says melon books, this is like this...

Some of them are secondhand, some of them are just like new, completely new.

But if you want to go to the 18 plus section, what you have to do is not go through this entrance, like up the stairs, because if you go up the stairs, you won't find it.

But you need to take the elevator right here, where there's actually the melon books.

On the fourth floor, there's like and more like stuff that's not necessarily straight up porn.

But on the fifth floor is where you want to go if you're looking for like the spicy material, I guess.

We're currently in the territories of Nishiki Market, which is like a...

Normally, you know, now it's a little bit later.

It's like 6 p.m., so most of these things are already closed.

But normally, it's like just like Kyoto street food, pretty good.

Or like it's a market where you can buy fresh fish and stuff.

That shop that we've just been to is actually probably my favorite.

Because, first of all, nothing there is secondhand.

Everything is, you know, it's like the official retailer.

Because, well, one thing, the prices are a little bit steep.

I have to say, the prices are a little bit steep.

Like, especially if you want a manga of a character that you already know.

Like, for example, you know, Rem from ReZero or Asuna from Sword Art Online or anything like that.
