Hey everybody, Jennifer from Tarle speech.

I have an old school word comparison today.

Basic quantifiers

This is such a common problem for so many of you out there.

For my Spanish speakers, this one is really for you.

My Japanese speakers, this one is for you.

We're really talking about two sounds here today, the V and the B.

And I'm using the words vote, which means to choose someone or something in an election and vote.

You can see I'm opening my mouth wide, the tip of my tongue is going to be low.

And then I move it to a pucker so my tongue becomes flat.

And then I touch the tip of my tongue to the spot where the teeth and the skin meet on the roof of my mouth.  Now what's the difference between the V and the B?

For this sound, you are going to think about gently biting, touching, the inside or the outside of the bottom lip with the teeth.

That's going to create a little space where the air can come out and make that strong sort of vibrating sound.

In fact, they're not closing really for any part of this word.

Now, you get to close your lips for that V.
