  • I used to play Super Mario on this all the time!

  • from the 1980s that played on this thing.

  • - (Finebros) Super Mario Brothers. - Yes.

  • - Yes. - Okay, we've heard of that one.

  • Yeah.

  • It's the biggest game ever.

  • (Finebros) The Legend of Zelda.

  • I've heard of it. Never played it.

  • (Finebros) People tried lots of things to get the games to work.

  • And the most popular of which was taking the game back out

  • and then blowing on it, and then putting it back in.

  • Yeah! I did it.

  • (Finebros) People claim today that blowing into the game did nothing.

  • - It was all in your head. - So it's just like a placebo effect.

  • That's probably true! But, we all do it anyways.

  • I don't think it does anything, honestly.

  • I just kind of proved that wrong right there!

  • This isn't just luck. It actually works, people, in the cartridge.

  • (Finebros) Could you ever imagine a console today being hugely successful

  • like this was if it had that many problems?

  • - No. - No.

  • Nowadays, everyone's instant gratification.

  • It would get returned immediately!

  • And then they'd go over to the other console.

  • If X Bone wasn't working, switch over to PS4 immediately.

  • We're just spoiled these days.

  • As soon as one person creates something that's super, super efficient,

  • people won't stand for anything less.

  • (Finebros) So go ahead. You can play the first level

  • - of Super Mario Brothers. - I gotta get in my groove here.

  • No, I don't want to! I'm scared. Okay...

  • Ugh, it's happening!

  • I love this game!

  • I feel like I'm in Wreck It Ralph.

  • This controller sucks. This is the least comfortable controller ever.

  • (Finebros) So would you say this is better or worse than consoles of today?

  • Worse.

  • Console wise, probably worse.

  • But I see some of these games and I wanna be playing this.

  • I like that there's only two buttons because I get really confused

  • with the big controllers that's like A, B, X, Y.

  • There's problems we just freaking... starting this up,

  • and you still want to sell me that a 1080p X-Box One

  • is worse than this game? Get outta here.

  • (Finebros) So in the '80s, the home gaming console

  • was struggling, and some people say the NES was one of the main reasons

  • it became a worldwide phenomenon.

  • Oh, dang. You've done good!

  • Nintendo, keepin' it alive!

  • I can't imagine a world without home video games.

  • That's like saying TV wouldn't work, or a movie wouldn't work.

  • So crazy that there was a time when no one played them.

  • I would like to thank it. Video games are my life!

  • That's cool and all, but it's kinda outdated now,

  • so gotta let go of the past here, and move on.

  • (Finebros) What are your thoughts that at one point this was

  • - the pinnacle of gaming? - People are outta their minds.

  • Crazy.

  • This was where it all started. It's all thanks to this!

  • That wasn't that long ago, and we've come a long ways in a short time.

  • I would still have so much fun playing this,

  • playing all the old games.

  • It's a shame that kids miss out on this, really.

  • Kids. I'm still a kid. I sound so patronizing.

  • It's a classic.

  • Like a classic vinyl record. This is like a classic vinyl video game.

  • Honestly, even today, if you had one,

  • you'd be the coolest person out of your friends, like,

  • "Bro, he has a Nintendo Entertainment System!"

  • You're gonna get the highest hipster status ever known.

  • People drinking Starbucks and reading the Faults In Our Stars

  • cannot even beat you. You're on a different level.
