Hey everybody, Jennifer from Charles Speech.

I have two words from all of my techies out there.

JIRA is a tool used for project management and tracking tasks.

And JUUL is a precious stone typically used in jewelry.

So for JIRA, we are going to have two syllables.

Most of the time I hear people say JUUL with two syllables.

However, some of the time you can just say JUUL.

So it's going to sound like one syllable.

For JIRA, what you are going to do is you are going to think about linking.

And we are going to link this E with the R.

And then we're going to add an UH, that unstressed UH sound, the schwa.

And then end with that super quick short unstressed UH.

Again, I am linking and I have some sound changes because I am linking those sounds together.

So it is like we have that little intrusive W in there.

They are using that really dark L, which means they just are not touching the tip of the tongue to the back of the top front teeth.

It's further back, so it sounds a little bit shorter and a little less precise.

Either is fine, but if people are misunderstanding what you're saying, you can try to really pronounce that L at the end.

She used JIRA to manage the project while admiring the JUUL in her brain.

I know people are going to notice the difference.
