I swear that the office got busier at 5 o'clock.

In the U.S., even if you had to do, like, admin stuff, you would just do it on Monday.

Some of the Japanese staff have told me that they would prefer to stay late on Friday so they don't have to work as much on the weekend.

Do you think that Japanese overwork environment also applies to foreigners here?

To be honest, I don't think they have that expectation of foreigners.

For my company, they say, well, you know what, it's okay, go home.

When I first got here, there was a typhoon warning, and my manager came to me and says, okay, there's a typhoon warning, you should go home.

So they say, you know what, we're gonna take care of him because he doesn't know what he's doing right now.
