We're back with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

For 20 years now, you've been in politics.

You've won every election you've done, OK?

So you've Pennsylvania State Rep, County Commissioner, Pennsylvania Attorney General, and in 2022, you became governor of the Keystone State.

But I was involved in trying to impress a girl.

Wait, you're going to impress a girl by running for office in high school?

And so I thought maybe I'd run for student council.

I promised to put new soda in the vending machine or whatever the hell I promised.

I will say that I did later get the girl.

Was she impressed with your resilience after getting smoked like that?

I sort of got, you know, dusted myself off.

And then were you, like, immediately interested in politics after that?

So, you know, I grew up in a home where, like, mom was a schoolteacher, dad a physician, and, like, super involved in the community.

And I think faith and family drew me to serving others.

And I thought maybe the best way I could serve others was to be a doctor like my dad.

I watched the community just sort of take to my dad because he took care of all their kids.

I was also pretty good at basketball at the time.

I'm just thinking, so you were torn between physician and NBA player.

I thought it was more of a point guard, but yeah.

Because we have a basket we can roll back out here.

And freshman year, I'm studying to be a doctor.

And one day, my professor calls me down the class, and he hands me back my exam.

And he goes, I know you're trying, but I don't think this is for you.

And being the overly dramatic freshman, I'm like, OK.

But at least I'm going to still be in the NBA.

Have what I thought was a great basketball practice.

Coach Neer calls me in his office afterwards and says, hey, I know you're trying, but we don't have room for you on the team.

Like, I am, this is not a good day, right?

I'm like, pop, I'm not going to be a doctor like you.

Someone knocks on my dorm room door and says, hey, would you like to run for student government?

And he says, look, you got nothing else going on in your life.

I ran, I won, and I fell in love with serving others that way.

And looking back on it, I got to tell you, the way my folks raised me, the way my faith taught me was about service to others.
